Misfits!! \o/

No idea how many of you are into MIsfits but I do need to spend some time squeeing about this amazingly awesome show. I'm only 2 eps into season 3, but ep 3.02 impressed me enough to blog about it.
Yay! I love how intelligent the story telling is on this show. It pulls no punches. It's crude and in ya face. It deals with broad issues but doesn't lecture. It's human and damn hilarious.
That ep (3.02) was a mind spin and I loved LOVED it. What a cool way to explore sexuality.
Out of all the characters on Misfits, Curtis is the one I have connected with the least. His story has interested me but I've never really felt his character. Until now.
To enable a character to understand not only his own sexuality but that of the opposite sex is quite a thing. To be confronted with the knowledge that you are self centered when it comes to sex and have a chance to do something about it is so fascinating and exciting to watch. (And the way he described the female orgasm? ... oh yeah baby..*g*)
On the surface men didn't fair so well in this. They were portrayed as predators, rapists, self centered and weak. (four men, four qualities) And yet, by the end, Curtis demonstrated that he was capable of understanding and allowed himself to grow. He could now consider what it is to be female and in turn learn about the male in himself. (how cool - by becoming a female you understand the maleness within you).
The attempted rapes were difficult to watch and I was pleased to be forewarned that they were attempted. I was squirming, even knowing that.
I asked my husband if he felt men were portrayed unfairly in the episode and he said no. Men are capable of all those things. Including consideration - but all those other traits also.
There's so much to discuss and mull over in this ep. Hubby and I have talked about it a lot and if a TV show can do than it's gotta be doing something good.
Hee. I'm listening to "Girl, You'll be a Woman Soon" and I can SO picture a vid to this song for that ep. :D
