Interesting! Perhaps there can be some threesome soul-touching with Cas sticking his hands in Dean *and* Sam! (Or that could be my dirty mind hoping to see that!)
OMG. This theory! I love it so much! Or cas could maybe use all the souls he's been "storing up" for his war-machine -- use that to heal sam and get the entire fandom back on his side if it turns out he's indeed going "evil". IDEK.
I love your theory of cas using dean's soul to heal sam, though!
And it makes perfect sense since this entire season has been solely focused on the power that an individual soul posesses. AND DEAN'S SOUL. With all its epic power and strength and undying-love for his brother as the thing that heals sam? MUSIC TO MY EARS.
See yes. The power of the souls have to be important because it's been mentioned a few times. Or rather the "value". But maybe they are valuable because they are so powerful.
I think it's also REALLY important that we know that touching a human soul can heal angels. Just not sure how they are going to want to use that in the future. Tying it to healing Sam's makes some sense to me.
And yeah... I think Cas is on the brink of doing something really BAD - so maybe he'll have to do something really GOOD to either fix that or turn him around. I really don't know. I am quite excited to think of the possibilities for Cas....

Oooh, interesting, I am finding all this soul stuff fascinating even if I admit I'm not quite understanding everything - yet.
As I was saying in a post the other day about Castiel and maybe all angels feeding on human souls, (created from human souls?) maybe this is why he can't fix Sam's, that he'd end up either draining the soul, exploding Sam like a neutron bomb or, and this is the one that interests me most - being contaminated himself by it.
However, I love this idea, that maybe he could connect Dean's soul to Sam - now THAT is what I would call one hell of a season ender - eeek, I can see it if I close my eyes, Castiel kneeling by the boys, wrist deep in both, the screaming, the light, fade to black! Hehe, you are a genius even if a little evil one as I shall be so disappointed if they don't do it... *sniff*
Tehe... why do I suspect that there shall be much disappointment when Cas doesn't reach inside both of them?! That would be just too mind blowing (especially if there's a danger that one of them die. Or that as sacrifices his life to save Sam...) Though death is never the end in the SPN 'verse.
Though there has to be some sort of solution to Sam's damaged soul... I am very curious to see what they do here and how Cas ends up playing a part (which I suspect he will do..)
