Early Joint B-Day/Going Away Party

Aug 11, 2008 13:26

Erg, haven't posted on here in a few days >_<  thought I'd finally be able to post somewhat regularly, but muse didn't wanna let me.

Yesterday my family gathered for my Aunt and I's annual joint B-day party.  Her b-day is Aug 11th and my day is Sept 6th, and we've found that it's just easier to gather everyone once during August and have the party then for both of us, especially because the traditional 'party place' for us is an hour away, but oh-so good food.

Bear Pit, B-B-Que speciality ribs, and it's a smallish place.  The family's been going there for longer than I've been around, and we seem to be known there.  The last two years we even had the same waitress (and I think, the second year at least) she was hitting on me.. which made me feel rather odd.

We get along somewhat as a family, but we all seem to see things just differently enough that to gather us more often is just asking for trouble.  We tend to start getting on each other's nerves when we all finally part ways.

Both my Aunt and I got books for our days; she, some books she's looking forward to reading; me, some manga I've been looking for.  I got four books, I'd read two of them before I turned in for the night ^_^", but I've already seen the anime and the manga is mostly the same story at this point.

Actually was a little dissapointed at the quality of the manga, enjoyed watching it happen much more. *shrug*  The sound effects in the manga just didn't leave me with the same 'feel' as it had while watching it.

Part of the reason we keep going to the Bear Pit, is their traditional b-day song and ice cream, it just makes us all happy. ^_^

Got my scoop of ice cream with a candle and set it down to start eating.  Then I notice that the candle is dripping, so I pull it out, not wanting to get candle wax in my ice cream, and just stare at it for a few seconds.  After a moment or two, I realize I'm holding a lit candle.  Just as I realize this it seems, I come up with the brilliant thought to blow the candle out and my mom on my right says something to the same effect.  I do so and set the candle down, trying (and failing) not to laugh at myself for not thinking of simply blowing out the candle to stop it from dripping on the ice cream.

Yes, this is the way my brain works.

My aunt got me a card and gave me her e-mail, must remember to shoot her an e-mail and start communication when we're not in person

Twosd (I knows Englished :p), finally finished reading new friend's entries to date on here so I'm caught up ^_^  yays.  Now to check out all the other links and stuffs she has available.  And soon to go find dad from his new-old place of work that he moved to.

Also need to write more, have posts to write several other places too.

O.O  and was just startled by big bug flying around.  I think it's just an oversized fly, but it was big enough to actually create a breeze when it flew by my arm.
