OK, here's the news I alluded to in my last post. I've resigned from Nova. My last day will be the 29th, then my vacation will carry me through to mid November (so I'll be collecting pay pretty much right up until I leave for Xmas in the States). I'll head back up to Nagano the 30th or 31st and stay with a friend until I find an apartment.
The plan is to take it easy the next couple of months, study for the JLPT and try to pick up some private students. When I get back to Japan in January I'll try to find more stable employment (unless I can somehow get together enough of my own students), and hopefully I'll be able to renew my visa in March. If I can't, it's back home with me.
Now, the main reason I quit is because I didn't get the transfer, but that's far from the end of the story. But the rest is fairly immaterial at this point and I won't bore you with it. I think you can get the sense from my previous posts that I haven't been too happy lately.
So I have to say, I feel a LOT better now and I'm really looking forward to the rest of this year and whatever comes next.
