So, I got up this morning, did my usual routine, said goodbye to the dogs and headed out the door.
The weather is strange today. It was bright and sunny when I walked out the door, but the neighborhood is spotted with standing water in all the low areas. My yard looks pretty spongy, and there are sections where the water is as deep as the grass is tall.
I got in my truck and headed down the road, feeling kind of odd. I remember thinking maybe it was Saturday and I had forgotten. I guess it was just a coincidence of two things - I didn't see any other cars on my first few miles and it was so sunny.
So, I'm driving along... traffic's picking up, so I don't feel so disoriented. Travelling through Bolingbrook I had a chance to look up at the clouds. They were cruisin'! There's nothing like a sky that moves faster than you are moving. The clear blue sky was visible, but the large, puffy clouds just slid across the sky as I sat at the red light. I wish I had a video camera... for what? I dunno.. maybe they'd make a good screen saver.
I bet if there weren't any other cars and all the lights were green, I could probably average 70 mph on my 17 mile commute up Rt. 53...
So, I get in to work... it's dark and gray again. I get to my desk, the window shows a completely dark sky and dreary day. Two of the three flourescent lights over my desk are burned out. Does it get any drearier than this? I think I'd prefer to sit at my desk in the dark with the glow of the monitor as opposed to this grayness...
