Fic: Grievances

“Move over,” Taylor muttered as she climbed into bed. Kendrix obliged, rolling over to make room in the bed. Taylor didn’t say another word, but she did curl up a bit under the covers. Kendrix bit her lip to keep from smiling and headed under the covers with her.

“Do you want to talk about it?” She asked. Taylor made an annoyed sound that sounded similar to a no. Kendrix stifled another laugh and gently leaned into her a bit more. “Come on, Taylor. It will make you feel better.”

“It will not,” the muttering continued. Kendrix was good at translating her girlfriend’s annoyed moods by this point since no layman would be able to do so.

“Yes it will,” she said patiently and waited. Sure enough, three minutes later, Taylor emerged from the blankets and Kendrix calmly joined her.

“Eric Myers is an ass,” Taylor informed her. Kendrix nodded sympathetically.

“Yes he is,” she agreed, feeling a bit better about the fact that Wes was surely having this same talk with Eric. She kept from reminding Taylor that they went through this about once a week just as they went through her complaining about Max being a brat. It was part of being with Taylor. “What did he do?”

She left off the ‘this time’ for the same reason she’d left off mentioning her complaining times. Taylor frowned. “You’re doing it again.”

“Doing what?” Kendrix asked, genuinely confused.

“You’re being understanding to a fault while knowing that everyone has their good points,” she said.

“Well, they do,” Kendrix answered.

“And you’re going to tell me that it’s fine to feel the way I do,” she muttered.

“Well, it is.”

“And that it wasn’t that bad and that you’re sure I’ll feel better in the morning.”

“You will.”

“And then you’ll offer to make me breakfast and I’ll forget why I was upset,” Taylor finished. “And it’s infuriating.”

“I’m sorry,” Kendrix said, kissing Taylor’s temple. “Would it help if I was more contrary?”

Taylor paused and grumbled as she pulled Kendrix to her. “There better be waffles in the morning.”

“There will be,” Kendrix promised as Taylor held her, smiling as she did so.
