Review: CSI for XBOX

Well, I solved my first case as a CSI.

A woman was found strangled and tied to a bed in a seedy hotel. On this case I was working with Grissom. There was a stain in the bathroom sink and I used luminal. It turned out to be blood, so I swabbed it. But I tried to print the faucet knobs, cos I figured that if the killer washed blood off his hands, then he wasn't wearing gloves, so he could have left prints, but when I took out the printing powder Grissom told me I couldn't do it.

Nor would Grissom let me print the doorknobs of the hotel room. I realise that video games only have so much room for stuff like that, but this first case was a bit simple. Not much evidence to collect and the stuff there was to collect was pretty obviously displayed. Jon says that as you do more cases they get more complex, so that's good.

As I already knew, the graphics aren't that great. It's no Morrowind or Halo. The graphics remind me of Resident Evil 2. If they make any more CSI games, I hope they improve the graphics. In a game like this the more detailed they make the rooms that we are processing, the more interactive the game play can be.

But even Jon, who is farther along in the cases that I am, is still in the CSI part of the game. The XBOX version is made up of both of the available computer games, (CSI and CSI Dark Motives) and the Dark Motives game is around a year newer than the older one, so I'm guessing the graphics will be better.

Plus I've read that the computer version of Dark Motives was full of bugs (wouldn't Grissom be delighted) and all of the reviews I've read of the XBOX version say that they fixed the bugs.

Overall: It's a fun game for someone who is into the show, or someone who is interested in solving crimes, but it would be nice if it were a bit more detailed and interactive. We'll see if the cases get more complex as I go along. I still have to work with Cath, Warrick, Nick, and Sara on this part of the game, and then there's the Dark Motives section, so when I've finished it all I will have a more thorough review.

Grissom gave me 80% on my evaluation. First time out too. I wonder, do I get a reward? A gold star perhaps?
