Persian goodness for the mundanes!
So I made a half gallon of sekanjabin syrup. Didn't realize until I had to take it off the heat and run off to work that Cariadoc's recipe makes about a pint, and calls for 30 minutes of simmering. Making four pints means four times as much water to simmer off. I can't make it evaporate four times as fast, so it ends up taking almost two hours. Planning fail on my part.
It turned out yummy in the end, though. I was going to try ubiq31's cinnamon apple tea bag idea, but I couldn't find any. Instead, I threw in a whole box of cranberry apple; it worked well. I ended up taking it along to my friend's party last weekend, and in spite of the presence of massive quantities of soda, we went through two and a half liters of sekanjabin instead. :)
In job search news, klynn330 is a cunning temptress. :P From what I've seen of it, I'd adore living in Media. Also, I'd be in Bhakail, and I'm a total fanboy and that would rock. But moving there would mean stashing large quantities of money to fund finding both a new job and my first ever apartment at the same time, and I don't think I'm up to it. Moving in with indigodawn would be a much simpler first step out of my parent's house and put me on the road to being on my own, and get me much closer to the general area (I'd be an hour away instead of two). Unless someone in Fred has a cheap spare room we could discuss, the plan is still to get something in/around Doylestown and go from there.
My biggest fear about moving is actually that I'll not be able to swing a week off of a new job for Pennsic, and that will greatly sadden me.
Finally, I'm going to have to learn to bake cookies. I promised Ysmay I'd bring her a batch of cookies, so cookies there will be! If all goes well I'll make a whole bunch and help cater RAV.
