What the...?????
Since I have been in Afghanistan I have been coming across some really stupid stuff. I am going to list some examples.
Example 1: I am ordering some laptops and part of the contract is that they are going to be shipped by DHL. I was then informed via email that DHL does not ship to an APO. Wait a minute I swear I am seeing things. There is this huge box outside the mailroom that says DHL hmmmm….. So they don’t ship here so that DHL plane just stops here for gas. I point this out to my email contact and she holds firm. At this point I am tempted to grab a digital camera and take a picture of the box and ask her to explain DHLs shipping policies again. Luckiliy it does not get to that point. I solved it reasonably peacefully.
Example 2: I have to order some T-shirts. Now the description I am given is grey T-shirts. People this is not complicated. When the vender emails me and asks me to confirm the color of the t-shirts. I am like what the hell grey is grey right. Wrong, apparently Ash and athletic heather ash were options as well. Unfortunately this forces me to call the customer and inform him of his color choices. Yes I am Air Force but I am buying for the army. Have you ever tried to keep a straight face and not start laughing while you are telling an army MSG that all of the sudden he has all these wonderful color choices. I think his exact words is what the hell color is the ever popular athletic heather ash. Personally I thought heather was a shade of purple. Who knows.
