Some coarse roving to practice with on the right. I decided it needed to be rainbow coloured.

(apparently I didn't explain this.. my mother found me a spinning wheel in a second hand shop. Previous post showed a 'single', which is one strand of yarn. Singles have only been twisted, they tend to want to untwist. In this picture I have twined the single into a triple-strand yarn, which is now stable and doesn't untwist.)

I was at a sheep-shearing festival this afternoon with some other people of the Stitch&Bitch group. Two spinning and me knitting. I had a previous woad-dyed project with me (not with the yarn I posted a photo of) and there was quite a lot of interest in the idea of dyeing with something you can grow in your own garden ( Read more... )
