A couple weeks ago, I composed a very funny (IMO, anyway!) lj entry about why super glue is a mom's best friend. I was in the shower at the time and of course didn't come to the computer right away when I was finished, so now I can't really even remember what was so amusing about it. Thinking about it did remind me of a college story that Eric likes to tell about how I wrote my whole final project program for Intro to CompSci while I was in the shower one night. He was the TA for my class and apparently found it very frustrating that I came up with it all in the shower, of all places. I, on the other hand, was frustrated because I did that at least a week before it was due and then couldn't figure out how to improve it! My program didn't do the best in the class, but I didn't feel too bad about it since I hadn't actually spent too much time on it (I spent more time on failed improvement attempts than on the original program). I did wonder, though, what would have happened if the professor had disqualified the programs that wouldn't run because they were so slow (he ended up changing the testing criteria after we all submitted our entries because some of the programs were super slow). But I think I got an A in the class and I didn't end up taking any more CS so it was sort of a moot point. I think Eric would have liked it if I learned more programming, but I found it to be a bit tedious. I mean, I thought it was pretty cool some of the stuff he programmed for his upper level CS classes but looking at the amount of code it took to get there - ugh!
Anyway, see what happens when I'm in the shower? And Eric wonders why I can never get out of there in less than 10 minutes - I guess it's a good spot for thinking, at least when I'm not trying to watch kids through the shower door to make sure they're not getting into mischief....
