Today was a tough day. I woke up at 4 and couldn't go back to sleep. Worried about my dr appt, I guess. I asked all the questions about having an iv during labor and feel somewhat better about it. Still annoyed but not so uptight. After the appointment Quinn and I ran around the mall for an hour to kill time so that we could go meet Eric for lunch. On the way home from lunch I was so sleepy that I was considering pulling the car over. It was terrible! Then by the time we got home I was awake again, which turned out to be just as well since Quinn refused to nap. Then I made a quadruple batch of sweet and sour meatballs (some for dinner, most for the freezer) and by the time that was done it was dinner time. This day totally disappeared!
Fun things for today included showering with Quinn for the second time this week. He used to like the shower but it's actually been months now since he's been willing to venture in. I don't know what changed his mind but he had a great time playing in the water this morning (only "toys" necessary were 2 plastic cups). It's very handy to be able to multitask - I get a nice long shower and he gets his bath requirement in for the day (he has to take a long shower or bath as part of his skin care routine for eczema - "bathe until pruny" were the doctors orders!). I like having his bath as part of the morning routine EXCEPT for the length of time it takes. It's hard to get anywhere before 9:30 at this point, and it's only going to get soooooooooo much worse once the baby arrives. So maybe we'll have to switch to night time bathing but I guess we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.
Another fun moment today was making meatballs with Quinn. Yes, he was into the bowl of ground beef and turkey elbow deep and loving every minute of it. Luckily after the mixing part was over I was able to get him cleaned up and distracted so that I could roll all the meatballs (which seemed like it took forever!). I'll have to remember this game for another time - there were 3 paper bags from the grocery store lying on the kitchen floor (still out from yesterday ) and he picked them up and started running around the house with them. So I suggested that he use his new kitchen food (he got a 101-piece set for Christmas - it makes a lovely mess) and pretend to go shopping. Well, not only did he shop for food, he shopped for cars, tupperware, measuring spoons, you name it! But it kept him occupied for at least 30 minutes, which is pretty good considering we started with just 3 paper bags! :)
