thefridayfive 1. What is your favorite song right now? Why?
At the moment, I really like "I'm Yours" by Jazon Mraz, because of the happy guitar and the harmonies
2. What genre of music makes you the happiest?
Acoustic...I love singing accompanied by just a simple guitar or piano
3. What would you name your band and what kind of music would you play?
Hmm...well when I was in 4th grade I started a "band" and my friend Sarah "joined" me...I wrote a bunch of REALLY CRAPPY lyrics and made up tunes to them...that was right after the Crayola color "Wisteria" became part of the 64-crayon box, and I really liked it, so that was our name.
Maybe I'd like to name a band with some of my favorite Greek words. And we would play pretty music.
4. What is your favorite lyric of all time? Why?
Well, I don't think I can choose just one, but here are some of my favorites:
"Butterflies are passive-aggressive and put their problems on the shelf, but they're beautiful. He'll realize the only thing that's real are the kids that kid themselves and the demise of the beautiful." -Ben Kweller, "In Other Words" Can't say I really understand what he's saying there, but I just love that song.
"Sing with your head up, with your eyes closed...not because you love the song, because you love to sing."
-Copeland, "You Love to Sing" Beautiful simple lyrics that I've kind of adopted as my musical motto.
"Color the coast with your smile, it's the most genuine thing I've ever seen..." -Dashboard Confessional, "Carry This Picture"
"Now if we had the power to bring our neighbors home from war, they would have never missed a Christmas -
no more ribbons on their door. And when you trust your television, what you get is what you got. 'Cause when they own the information, oh, they can bend it all they want. That's why we're waiting...waiting on the world to change." -John Mayer, "Waiting on the World to Change"
"Rise up this morning, smiled with the rising sun. Three little birds pitch by my doorstep. Singin' sweet songs of melodies pure and true...sayin', 'this is my message to you-ou-ou.' Singin', 'Don't worry about a thing. Ev'ry little thing gonna be alright." - Bob Marley, "Three Little Birds"
5. What band/artist could you never live without? Why?
Oh man. If this question had more of a "could you never have lived without," past feeling to it, I'd definitely answer Dashboard Confessional...because that was pretty much all I listened to for my last two years of high school. But for a future implication...I'd say I couldn't live without John Mayer. Because his lyrics mostly rock and his music certainly does.
