Summary: Love truly hurts, even to the "strongest" and most emotionless of people. If only Rena knew, maybe things would have been different....probably not.
Adyn looked down at the town below. He enjoyed being perched up on the Station Heights in Twilight Town. Rena and the others ran off to go and explore, leaving Adyn all by himself. He was used to being alone, he was alone most of his life. He leaned his elbows on his knees, staring down at the pillar he was sitting on. He missed being...normal. Or as normal as he could be, anyway. He cracked a smile when he thought back to how he was when he was little. He was happy, he was nice, kind. He was open and outgoing to everyone. He loved picking flowers and running around.
Those times seemed fake to him.
The way he was now was nothing like his younger self. He was shy, soft spoken, and very quiet. He hated flowers and meadows. Anything optimistic -- he hated. Yet optimistic people... he just couldn't help but be jealous of. He didn't technically hate them; he just wished he could be like them. His tail swun lazily as he looked out to the horizon, hoping Rena and co. were having a good time.
There are so many things I wish I could say to you... but... I dunno. Adyn sighed and stood up, looking down at the ground. He grinned at the idea of falling off. He would be able to fall to his death, perhaps. He had been contimplating his suicide for quite some time. Tyken had already won Rena's heart, seeing as he would look at them flirt and cuddle up against each other. They make a good couple, though. Raynie finally won over Squall's heart, which made him a little happy. He was glad at least someone got their love of their life.
If only I could.... Adyn clutched his hands and took a step foot forward. He let the wind move his black spikey hair, his eyes closed. He opened them slowly when he didn't hit the pavement. He looked at his single grey wing. Oh yeah... I forgot. He frowned and flapped it back up to where he was sitting only moments ago. His golden eyes searched around, not a single person in sight. He sighed and dangled a hand, wondering why he was given a second chance if nobody loved him. I don't deserve this....at all...
"Adyn-kuuun!" Rena yelled, grinning. She held onto Tyken's hand and licked a sea salt ice cream. Adyn glanced and grinned softly, waving a little. Raynie joined them, sighing and talking about Squall. Tyken licked his ice cream in silence, staring at his homeworld. Adyn got up, stretching out a little. Rena and Tyken glanced at him, while Raynie was too busy thinking about her beloved.
"It's my turn to explore, I guess!" Adyn announced, running out from the top. Rena and Tyken shrugged at each other, going back to talking and laughing. Adyn let the tears roll down his cheek as he kept running. His hands were clenched into fists as he ran. Raynie looked down and saw him running out of the Train Station exit, his face looking flushed. Raynie shrugged and went back to thinking about Squall. She smiled, not being able to wait until she saw him again.
Adyn found himself at the worst place to be. The perfect place for couples. The place where it seems like you could touch the sun. Faint images of Rena popped into his mind. He clutched at his head and fell to his knees, he didn't want to think about her. He knew Tyken and Rena were in love, there was no changing that. His stomach lurched. He started to feel faint and dizzy. He panted and looked up, thinking he saw Rena kneeling down to his level for a second.
In a flash, it was gone.
Thud. He fell face forward, a blush creeping on his skin. The sun beat against his pale skin, almost mocking his depression. Everyone was so happy except him. He thought something was wrong with the universe. It was against him, so he said to himself. He breathed in deeply, sounding like someone who was having an asthma attack. The shooting pains were going all through his body.
I'm not supposed to exist.
I'm not supposed to have a heart.
I'm not supposed to love her....
...but I do.
His eyes rolled in the back of his head, finally losing his grip on reality. The grip on his weapon loosened. It was barely touching it by now. His body relaxed, as if he were floating on a soft cloud in the sky. His face straightened to his old monotone face, expressionless. His wing stopped flapping abruptdly. It barely moved at all. His tail didn't sway back to forth.
He looked dead.
If people were to have seen him, they would have thought he was an angel that fell from the sky. He didn't even flinch in the slightest. He didn't understand what was going on, yet he didn't like it. He couldn't move, yet he was aware of what was happening around him. As if he were in only a daze. Why can't I move?
"Hurry up, Tyken-kuuun! Come on, Raynie-saaaan!"
Rena?!
"We're comin', kid! Don't be so hyper!"
"Rena, you're so silly!"
"I know!"
It's like I never existed.
Maybe it's better that way.
He could hear them running around, almost like they were playing some sort of game. He could hear their footsteps coming closer and closer. He tried making himself move, even in the slightest, yet he couldn't. He stiffened even more once he heard what Rena was going to say. He felt his whole world shatter, even though he saw it coming.
"I love you, Tyken-kuuun!"
'I love you! I love you!' It rang in his ears so many times. His eyes felt blank, his heart felt crushed. He knew she loved him, but to hear it?
It shattered him to a million shards, falling like glass.
He heard their footsteps slow down, then to a quick gasp withdrawn. Suddenly it went quiet. He wanted to know what happened. His face was on the pavement, so he couldn't really see anything. He heard somebody inch closer, yet was stopped. To them, he was dead. He tried twitching his finger, yet nothing happened. Please, let me move! "I....is Adyn-kun dead?"
"He looks it, kid...."
"Why!? Why would Adyn-kun do somethin' like that!?"
Why!? He wanted his body to get up, yet it failed to do so. Maybe he was dead. Maybe he was just looking down at his body. He didn't feel dead. He didn't even understand what was happening. He could hear Tyken wrap his arms around Rena, to comfort her. He heard sniffling, then sobbing. His heart rose to his throat. She was crying.... for him. Somebody did miss him, actually. It was also the one person who he wished would miss him.
I'm not dead!!!
Raynie patted her on the shoulder, frowning and looking at Adyn.
"He was a great guy. Maybe if we asked 'im what was wrong?"
"Shhh...don't make her more upset, Raynie."
"WHY!? Why would Adyn-kun die?! He's not supposed to die!!! He's supposed to protect meh and you, Tyken-kun! He...he...did it himself, didn't he..."
"I believe so..."
NO! I'm not dead! Believe me! He frowned. A tear rolled down his cheek, Raynie noticing it first. A couple more tears rolled down, hitting the pavement he was on. She inched forward, wondering what was going on. He mouthed something, something she couldn't make out. I....I'm...not....dead... He finally screamed it out, sending shivers down each of their spines.
"I'M NOT DEAD!!! I'M NOT! I'M NOT!!!" he screamed, repeating himself over and over. He didn't know he was snapping back to reality. He didn't notice it until he felt a warm hug, then warm tears on his shoulder. He snapped his golden eyes open, seeing Rena first. He withdrew a sharp breath. He was back, he finally made it out of his little spasm. He held onto her. "I didn't leave you guys! I would never!"
"What happened, Adyn?"
"I don't know! I... I just...don't...know..." he whispered, looking away. Rena let go, her face flushed with anger.
"How could you leave us like that, huh!? We NEED you! Don't go killin' yourself!"
"I DIDN'T! You have to believe me!!!"
"No! I won't believe you!" she screamed, turning around. She grabbed Tyken by the arm and stormed on out, tears running down her cheek. Raynie bit her lip and turned around, running after Rena and Tyken. Adyn laid there on his side still, not believing what just happened. He got up slowly and walked to the edge, gazing at the sunset. He frowned and stepped onto the railing, spreading his hands out.
"Clip my wings, please. I don't want to be like this anymore. I don't want to look like a freak! I don't....wanna see her cry anymore... I don't want....to hurt my Wonderwall."
"I'm your Wonderwall?" Rena asked softly, stepping forward to him. Adyn gasped and slipped, catching himself with his wing. He hovered back over and sat on the railing, looking away. Rena smiled and sat next to him on the railing, leaning on his shoulder. "It's a good thing I told Tyken-kun that we should just be friends."
"Huh!?"
"You heard me! I'm sorry...I yelled at you..."
"Oh, no... I'm sorry I yelled."
"You're weird..."
"Thanks?" Adyn questioned, blushing slightly. Rena giggled and put a hand on his knee, making him blush even harder. She turned to face him and kissed him softly, practically making him fall of the edge of the railing. She released him from her kiss and grinned, punching him playfully. He looked away, shyly. "I guess dreams do come true..."
"How corny!"
"Hey! I was trying to be sentimental!"
"Try harder."
"Fine, I will." He replied. He leaned in and kissed her, still blushing. She smiled and leaned on his shoulder, holding his hand.
"That's better."
"I thought so."
