Has women's tennis become so annoying to watch BECAUSE of the high pitched and prolonged screams every time someone hits a ball???? (I'm not even going to name names...)
I remember when Monica Seles "revolutionized" women's tennis by introducing the opponent-distracting "grunt". That was annoying then, but nothing compared to the stupid "Arrrrrrrgggghhhhhh"s and "Errrrrgggghhhhhh"s most of the women let out today -- and I mean, every freaking time they hit the ball... *_*
I understand that they're hitting the balls real hard and there's tons of effort going into every stroke, but... c'mon, ladies. And I'm not even saying silly things like "It's un-ladylike" (You would hear this sort of things at Wimbledon... XDDD Got to be dressed in white and act proper, people.). My daughter and I were noticing that the guys make audible grunt, too, but they are a lot lower pitched and shorter and far quieter over all... and therefore, much less annoying. We sat in front of TV, nodding heads, going, "Maan, the guys are a lot easier to watch..." There was a time we used to say that because the women's balls flew so slowly back and forth, but now, it's because of all the silly girly screaming. Can we ever get a break?
