Spring Pond Clean-Up

Ew... I had no idea the bottom of my garden pond was going to be this yucky. XDD I have water lilies and they've been in there for 3 seasons, so I figured I should clean the bottom of the pond up a little bit and throw away the old roots. Wow. The bottom of the pond was matted with roots of reeds and the chunky part of the waterlily root looked like huge dog poo -- I couldn't put my hand around to grab it.   They were that thick. OMG! *_* Of course, in order for me to get to the bottom of the pond to see all this, the pond had to be drained, which meant ... major stinkage. LOL I used the yucky scum water to feed my roses and cherry trees -- it may sound like an odd way to show my love for the plants and trees, but they will respond to this stuff better than they do to Miracle Grow. And I used some of the sludge/dead roots as compost dressing into my garden. It was funny to see one of my cats come up and make a face at it and then proceed to cover the offensive smelling stuff. XD

I have renewed love for the water lilies. XD From all that stinkth cometh a beautiful bloom...

I have pink ones like this one and white ones that tend to be a little smaller.
