We were enjoying daily high in the 70s last week. Then comes snow! Ahhh, got to love the spring weather in the Rockies. At least, the snow didn't stick around for too long over this half of the state and we have no weather-related accidents over here, unlike on the front range (Did I hear "worst storm of the season"?). The worst damage I can report around my house is the daffodils being hit by the freezing temperature... Stupid weather going menopausal! Bradford pear was still in the bud stage, so they'll be OK for the most part. My Japanese cherries are nowhere near peduncle elongation stage, so they're safe, too. The wait just has gotten longer is all. The plums were in bloom in the valley, so I wonder if there's going to be some crop damage for the orchard owners this year... (This is precisely the reason every orchard seems to be turning into just another stupid vineyard around here. Grapes start budding much much later, and they're simply so much safer for farmers around here. But, the plants have not much of "flowers" to speak of. )
We could use the precipitation for all we know. The drought of 7 years in the west will require many many years of above-average precipitation to even come close to reversing the damage. (And we're already behind for the yearly total so far...)
