OMG now I know why I've had high blood sugar!

Bear with me as I type out this day's events. I've had shaky hands ever since I got the news. I'm a wreck.

When I went to the ENT last time, he had me do a sputum test and have Ellen, my aide, take it to the hospital lab to be tested. Did I tell you about that? I'm sure I must have. The doctor put me on a Z-pack antibiotic and told me that if I still had a cough after taking it all to let him know, as I'd need an X-Ray.

Well, I never heard the result of the test, so I called yesterday. The nurse said they had to get the info faxed from our local hospital (they are always slow) and by the time it came, the doctor had gone home.

This morning, while Ellen was helping me get my compression stockings on, the phone rang. It was the ENT nurse. She said I needed to see my regular physician and get attention immediately as the sputum test revealed that I have MRSA in my lungs! MRSA stands for Methicillin Resistant Straphylococcus Aureus, an infection of the Straphylococcus aureus bacteria. This type of bacteria is resistant to most well-known anti-infective drugs. It is also called "Flesh Eating Bacteria", but in lungs, it can be fatal with people with lower immune systems (that includes me, sadly).

All this time I have had MRSA and no one knew or tested.

I'm scared.

We are off to our rinky dink hospital for me to get an X-Ray and another sputum test. If you google MRSA you'll see how very serious this is.

No wonder my blood sugars have been up and I feel so bad.

mrsa, scared, ill
