Bear is on his way to take Emmie back to her new home at the group home. She had a wonderful time here; got to stay for two nights.
as usual, we had illness around on the holiday. Adie, who had a bad case of food poisoning, was feeling somewhat better on Christmas eve, but on Christmas, she felt very poorly for awhile. Then, Sasha did as well because she ate too much (she has Crohn's Disease). But all in all, we had a good holiday.
It was so good to all be together again, though we missed having Aaron with us. He called just as we were getting ready to sit down to eat, and was telling me how homesick for family he is. I felt so bad for him. He got a taste of it a year and a half ago when he visited and now he knows what he is missing.
Christmas Eve was nice, being able to catch up and then nosh on cheese, crackers, little smokies, chips, and sugar cookies. Really healthy! ha! Then we watched Mamma Mia which Bear, Emmie and I enjoyed immensely but the girls said "it isn't the best musical we've ever seen." Well. We liked it! I guess you really had to be familiar with the Abba songs to REALLY enjoy it. Of course, it wasn't as beautiful as it was on the big screen -- the scenery was so gorgeous. Then we opened a few gifts to one another. The girls didn't have any for us, and we didn't expect any, as they have been so poor. We gave them several presents, and saved a couple for the next day.
Then the next day, Emmie and I lounged in our PJ's for a bit, and had breakfast before opening our presents. Bear got me a beautiful purse (I was shocked that he could buy something as personal as a purse and I would LOVE it, which i do!), and a gorgeous cut glass ring holder. I'd been using a plastic bathroom drink cup and he decided I needed something a bit classier! :)
We had a wonderful meal, which Bear cooked, and then we settled down to watch It's a Wonderful Life, which Sasha had never seen all the way through. We had many breaks, but it was all good. We sent home almost all of the left overs (kept some turkey for sandwiches). Oh, forgot to mention that Bear made a fantastic Trifle -- instead of orange jello, he accidently bought apricot, but it tasted even more delicious. Very fruity and light. YUM! hope there are leftovers of that! :)
Emmie was so blessed. She got a big VT Hoodie from her aunt Khaki (Kathy, my best friend in IL) who has been her godmother since we brought her home when she was born. She loved it so much she wore it the entire time. We got her a pair of PJ's and two pairs of flannel sleep pants. The group home bought her a set of VT towels (she was in heaven), a pack of panties and a pack of sports bras, and one staff person bought her a VT rug! Now, when I get the VT quilt done, her room will be really spiffy :)
We are all so thankful for what we have, and for the love we experience through Christ. We are thankful for the dear, dear friends we have made here on livejournal, and for the joy of the friendships we experience. My life would be very small and bare indeed if not for my friendships here.
Merry Christmas and Happy Boxing Day!
