I've started National Novel Writing Month for the first time.
I can't say that it's actually my goal to finish within the month, but it will give me the motivation to write more than I usually do.
I write quite a bit, but I've never actually finished a novel I've started. I think this will be different. For one, this inspiration literally came to me in a dream. I know, how Stephenie Meyer of me. But without being too arrogant, I think it's safe to say I am a better writer than her. Secondly, I'm writing an actual story. In the past I think most of my stories have been memoirs disguised as fiction, and those are a bit too soul-baring to ever publish or even finish. And lastly, I am HANDWRITING. I know that this probably won't work for NaNoWriMo, but maybe I won't submit my word count anyway.
I really do enjoy handwriting. It slows the story down. When I type, my fingers go faster than my brain and I forget what I'm talking about. I'm also much less critical of myself when I handwrite. And it just reminds me of my childhood. I used to handwrite stories all the time and it's fun to just curl up anywhere with a pad of paper and scribble away.
I won't say what I'm writing, but I'd say my real goal is to get it all down within the next 2 months. The hard part is not neglecting my school work.
