Illustration Friday Revision!
Topic: Depth.

After some good comments and critiques on my last version, I decided to make some changes to get the octupus to feel more underneath the girl. I also made it a vertical piece as to portray "depth" rather than "shallow-ness". Let me know what your favorite version is and why. :)

Woot is a good thing right?
I don't think people like this much. Buggin about perspective. To me, perspective isn't a huge issue in an illustration of this style... maybe I'm wrong though...

Thoughts? I know that you are good for it... and I need some strong pieces to submit to Picture Window.

Also, should I keep doing these digital illustrations or should I revert back and work in my "freehand/painterly/less smooth" style more. I didn't get much imput from Zach on what they expect other than to have a lot of kids from different cultures.

Hope your day is swell!

I would show them both, so they know you can do both... ill see if i can get more out of the zach later on tonight about ti all.

I like the perspective in both pieces, its simple enough, its not mind blowing and makes it fun... just like it should be.

I was thinking maybe 8 or 9 pieces in each style. The digital is just so much easier since I can do it on breaks at work a lot easier than a painting. I need some subject inspiration too... Illustration Friday helps, but it only pushes me to do one peice a week and I want to do more than that in order to have a strong set by the end of October.

From what you can tell... from the work that I have posted here... do you think I have a good shot at getting some work from them? Not sure what the competition is like or where I would fit in.

Both are good. The second one is more interesting. Almost want to see a few fishies swimming about. I don't know, something about the ocean- you expect to see certain things.

I like the patch on the inner tube. Well placed and adds charater. Overall, a good illustration.... Makes me thirsty for more.

Thanks Jerry!
I considered fishies and music notes but was having trouble keeping it from being too busy. I may have to keep working this one though... it just doesn't seem to be quite there.

Can't wait till Friday and our next topic... so more to come soon!!!
