Dumb asses are amusing sometimes. This will be addressed towards the end.

I went home sick today after lunch, but realized I needed to go to the DMV this week and going home early does not bode well for a long lunch later in the week, so I grabbed my paperwork and trudged off to the place of eternal limbo and damnation in sleepy, sore, and weary determination. Today was a particularly slow snail race. I think I sat there for almost an hour and a half. At least the people around me were talkative and one was even a gamer which made things bearable until their numbers got called and the conversation dwindled.

Once I got called, I got to start through the paperwork hoops like normal. You could ask the same question to 4 DMV employees and get 7 different answers. My new motorcycle, despite being expensive on the registration (thank you Arnold for your tax-raising efforts you cock biting son of a bitch fucker...asshole), was relatively painless paperwork-wise. My older bike, the Ninja 500, however was not. It was crashed last year as some of you may know. By the time I got it back, the registration was expired so I went to pay it and make the bike non-operational (cheaper registration and it's not going on the street anyway). Well, the first time I tried, I was told I couldn't change the registration status because it was more than 90 days past due (actually 2 days) despite my declaration of non-operation stating it had not been ridden since the accident.

This time I was told I couldn't change the status until paperwork was filed for the salvage status caused by the accident, and I had until the 20th to figure out the paperwork, get it inspected by a peace officer for operational lights, and get it to the DMV on a trailer so they can further inspect it. Yay. But, the registration is paid for non-operational status and I have proof I paid before the registration expiration date so I should be good to go as long as I can get the bike "fixed" well enough to pass inspection in the next month or so. Gotta find the title though; I think it's in the truck from the last time I was banished to the depths of the government employee containment center.

Leaving, I was behind a guy in a Lexus cruising at 3-5mph towards the exit of the parking lot. Phone is planted firmly to his ear. His rear window is also conveniently open, as is the faceshield on my helmet. The hilarious result? I bark, "Get off the damn phone and DRIVE!" Why? He's going slow, and while the momentary pause at the stop sign is for the car approaching on the road, the rest of his driving is obviously impaired and bikers get hurt when idiots do that particular task without the upper-brain function known as the ability to multi-task. Plus, it's illegal here because so many pecker heads can't divide their attention properly.

He turns around, saying "Can't you see the car coming?" and is about to glare at me like I've got 3 heads and a nipple on my nose, but realizes I'm a 6'4" man who doesn't look very thin at all when he's got a sweatshirt on under his leathers and can look very imposing even sitting on a bike while glaring, let alone standing up. He on the other hand is a trim man in his late twenties, maybe 5'10" or so, and dressed in what appears to be a over-sized turtleneck sweater and slacks. He tries to play it off like "whatever," and despite needing to make a left-hand turn immediately he pulls into the right lane and lets me pass on his left before merging over and making his turn. I watched him while he pulled out until he made his turn, then started busting up laughing.

Then I went home, had Powerade, PB&J sandwiches, and Excedrin before crawling into bed for a failed attempt at snoozing because the guys and gals at work don't know you should stay home when you're sick so you don't infect everyone else: with a few exceptions, everyone else in the office has been out sick at least one day over the last week. Great for productivity. But, for now, I'm feeling okay thanks to the meds, fluids, and rest I got (still a little dizzy and flu-ish). Hopefully I'll get some good sleep tonight and beat this thing by tomorrow. I've got work to do.
