Well, it's taken almost two years, but the house is FINALLY almost ready for Company. Now, those few who have already been over for dinner or what have you, no being offended! I mean Capital-C Company here! Tonight, being that it is Canadian Thanksgiving, we will be hosting My Sweetie's entire clan for the big family dinner. I made cranberry sauce from scratch last night, and the sweet potato dish that my Mom always does for Christmas. Let's hope it turns out!
Fortunately for me, My Sweetie and I do not subscribe to gender roles when it comes to cooking. He's actually taking care of most of the dinner. He's doing the turkey, the stuffing, and the gravy (possibly with help from his Cousin, who went to culinary school). I didn't even have to contribute as much as I did, but I feel that canned cranberry sauce is an evil, evil thing, and I've been wanting to try this sweet potato recipe for years, and this seemed like as good an opportunity as any.
As for the other necessaries for the meal, it's semi-potluck with other members of the family providing various veggies, potatoes, desserts, and buns, so it's a lot more casual than family gatherings always have been with my family (where The House is pretty much responsible for everything.)
*sigh* I guess you know you're REALLY Family when you've hosted Thanksgiving! Here's to Family!
