Notes: to my recipient, hi~! all the prompts you’ve listed are so interesting, but this one caught my attention the most. I think I kind of deviated from the original prompt, though, but I hope you’ll still like it! also, this is kind of my comeback fic from my hiatus in ficdom so I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it. ^^

kris, im in the unpleasant position to tell u that the countdown to ur midlife crisis has just begun. congratulations! from now on, u r officially old kekeke

happy birthday!! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ i wish u happiness, and good health and a whole lot of new fashion sense on this special day (bc lbr u need that last one. badly.) 30th bdays don’t come everyday, so u better make it a day that will go down in history!

p.s. ur gr8test bday gift ever is alrdy waiting for u at ur apartment~ enjoy it to ur heart’s content ok!! (∩▂∩)
p.p.s. u can thank me l8r by treating me to that fancy restaurant u’ve been blabbering about for days

Kris ends up rereading the message for at least three more times before he reluctantly tears his eyes away from his phone screen. He stays rooted in his spot, quite unsure of what to do - seeing the words gift and Chanyeol in one sentence incite that familiar fight-or-flight response in Kris but, at the same time, the urge to ignore Chanyeol's message in favor of spending the remaining of his day in the warm confines of his apartment is proving to be just as strong.

Kris adamantly stares at his front door, as though the mere intensity of his gaze can help him figure out whatever it is on the other side (he still remains clueless even after an intense three-minute staring contest with an inanimate object, quite unfortunately). His instincts tell him not to open it, to turn tail while he still has the chance to do so. But then, Kris remembers that whatever present Chanyeol has mindlessly bought again this time will still be there tomorrow when he comes back and he certainly can’t keep running away from it either. He’s pretty sure Chanyeol would still find a way to bring the gift to him no matter how many times he resist, anyway.

In the end, Kris just decides to throw all the fucks he can give out the window. He opens the door and steps inside, a little tense but still very much cautious of his surroundings.

Frankly, he has learned to expect the worst of the worst when it comes to Chanyeol and his gifts. So it comes as a pleasant surprise when Kris isn’t welcomed by a room bustling with people on the other side of the door, or choked into oblivion by something equally ridiculous like a balloon avalanche or a flower bomb. Rather, he finds a harmless looking box sitting in the middle of his living room floor, huge enough that it greedily takes the only little space Kris has in his apartment.

Kris cocks his head in confusion. How Chanyeol had even managed to drag that massive thing inside is beyond him, really, but Kris finds that he could care less about that, especially not when his curiosity is trying to get the best of him now.

He warily approaches the box with slow, unsure steps. Chanyeol had given him a bunch of weirder gifts before but, well, they’re certainly nowhere near this big. Kris hates how that mere fact alone is enough to get him interested. Up close, the big box doesn't look any more different than a normal sized one. It does, however, fit perfectly with the occasion, with a shiny, red ribbon even tied securely around it and a pretty bow affixed on top.

The small card haphazardly stuck on the front momentarily catches Kris's attention:

to: my 30-yr old virgin best friend,
have fun ~unwrapping~ ur gift 8-D

- chanyeol :D :D :D

With trembling fingers, Kris finally undoes the bow and lets the ribbon fall to the side. He then steps back, just enough to pull down one of its flaps and see what's inside.

While Kris might have had a few, vague ideas on what might be inside the box, a young, attractive guy dressed in a female school uniform is hardly one of them.

“You’re finally here,” the petite boy says, something akin to relief and happiness flooding his voice. He inches a little closer, lets a small smile tug at the corners of his lips and Kris, in that exact moment, feels his breath stutter in his throat. “Happy birthday, sir. My name's Baekhyun and I'm all yours for today.”

Kris blushes. Madly. He blushes so hard it even makes his skull prickle, his face quickly turning into a violent pink. It's a rather ridiculous reaction, Kris supposes, but then again he's never been subjected to this kind of...stuff before so he doesn't have a clear idea on how he should act in such situations in the first place.

And, well, the guy - Baekhyun - is unbelievably attractive even in a girl's uniform, so that's really not helping Kris's case at all.

Kris wants to punch himself so bad. He really shouldn’t have listened to that irritating, niggling voice at the back of his head.

"Do you want to unwrap your other present now?" he suddenly asks and Kris swears he can blush twice as hard if that's even humanly possible. Despite being a virgin at thirty, Kris isn't that naive not to figure out what he's talking about.

Baekhyun (who was apparently inside the box all this time-God, what in the world was Chanyeol even thinking?) only continues to look at Kris with that teasing smirk on his face. It shouldn't be that hard to run away, to bolt right out of his own apartment, but for some reason, Kris can't find it in himself to move. He's helplessly stuck, held in place only by that intense stare and the inviting tilt of those lips.

Slowly, Baekhyun makes his way towards Kris, each step deliberate and taken with ease. He oozes confidence in the way he moves, not even a hint of shyness despite the fact that he's crossdressing as a female student right now. It's stirring something odd and dangerous in Kris, an unnamed emotion he can't quite pinpoint with words.

One, two, three more steps are taken. Kris gulps; he can't help but notice how the short skirt swishes with every step Baekhyun makes, how it falls so perfectly just above his knees, teasing Kris with what little sliver of skin he can see.

"S-Stop. Stay right there," Kris forces himself to say despite the huge lump lodged in his throat. He holds a hand up, his fingers quivering. Breathe, Kris, breathe. "I'm not sure what the hell this is but I-I think you've got it all wrong."

Baekhyun comes to a full stop just as he's told, only an arm's reach away from Kris. His eyebrows scrunch up in confusion. (Goddamnit, even Kris has to admit that he is really, really cute.) "But you are Kris, aren't you?"

Kris wants to lie. He can. He should. He'll do this, if only to save whatever is still intact of his sanity-

"Your friend showed me your picture beforehand so don't even think about lying to me," Baekhyun says, immediately crushing Kris's hopes of getting out of this situation.

Damn it, Park Chanyeol.

"What's the matter, Professor Wu?" Baekhyun continues, taking another bold step towards Kris. It sounds more like a taunt than an actual question. "Are you afraid that one of your students will find out about this?"

Kris isn't given enough time to open his mouth, however, because Baekhyun is already invading his personal space in a blink of an eye, mouth so close to his ear that it sends a shiver down Kris's spine when he whispers, "Don't worry, we'll keep it as our own little secret, Professor."

Kris pushes Baekhyun away in shock. His heart goes on overdrive, thundering hard and loud in his chest, and he feels like he's ran a marathon ten times over with how he's trying to catch his breath.

What is this guy even doing to him?

Baekhyun seems just as surprised as he is and Kris feels a twinge of guilt once the initial shock wears off. He didn't mean to react so violently like that. "Look, I don't really do things like these so can you just-" Kris trails off, flailing, unable to express himself coherently in words.

"Can I just what?"

Kris's cheeks bloom into a pretty pink hue. He really doesn't want to make such a silly request but, damn it, he can't think straight with Baekhyun dressed like that in front of him. "Can you please change into your normal clothes?"

There's a few seconds of silence before Kris finally hears a snort of amusement coming from Baekhyun's direction. Kris silently wills the ground to open up and swallow him whole. This is so embarrassing.

"You sure you don't even want to try?" Baekhyun asks. Kris tries not to delude himself into thinking that there's a hint of regret in Baekhyun's tone. "Chanyeol did spend quite a lot for your gift, you know. It would be waste not to enjoy it."

It's a very tempting offer but- "Yes, I'm sure," Kris firmly answers, "just-please go. The bathroom's to your left."

Baekhyun huffs under his breath before he eventually turns and heads towards the bathroom. As soon as the door closes, Kris lets out a weary sigh. He slumps against the sofa, feeling a lot more exhausted than usual. This was never in his plan today-Kris was supposed to spend the remaining of his birthday in peace, alone in his little apartment with his reliable tv, his Chinese takeout box and a bunch of papers he needed to grade. He wasn't supposed to feel so stressed and embarrassed like this on his birthday, damn it.

While Chanyeol might have been concerned for the welfare of his virgin best friend's sex life, Kris thinks paying someone to crossdress for him is just really pushing it.

The bathroom door suddenly opens and out comes Baekhyun in a simple shirt and a pair of black pants that perfectly hug his legs. Kris has been secretly wishing that this - the physical attraction, the chemistry, that dangerous feeling simmering low in his belly - was only temporary, that it was just a mere effect of seeing an attractive guy dress up so prettily for him. But even in his normal clothes, Kris's heart only continues to skip a beat just by looking at Baekhyun, and he doesn't exactly understand why.

"Honestly, Chanyeol told me it won't be too easy, but I didn't actually imagine it would be this hard,” Baekhyun muses out loud, pulling Kris away from his thoughts. He's sitting on one of the couches, watching Kris with obvious interest, chin resting on his palm. The undivided attention Baekhyun gives him makes Kris's skin prickle. "That was a huge blow to my ego, you know. No one's ever resisted my charms before."

Kris can't help but snort at that. It's a lot easier to be back to his normal self now, with no one like Baekhyun in a skirt distracting him. "Maybe I'm not just an easy guy like the others."

It's Baekhyun's turn to snort this time. "Right. Or maybe you're just a prude."

Kris sputters indignantly. Before he can get one eloquent word out, however, Baekhyun is already getting out of his seat and walking towards the door. Kris feels his heart drop for some reason. "Anyway, I should get going. My hours are paid, as you probably know, and I don't want to overcharge Chanyeol if we're actually not going to do anything."

Of course. Baekhyun's only here because he was paid to do so. There's no reason for him to stay if he can't do his job in the first place. Kris doesn't know why he's even expecting anything else, really.

"Uh..." Kris trails off. He's at a loss for words. Is he supposed to say thank you? Or is sorry more apt in this situation?

"I hope we can see each other again, Professor," Baekhyun drawls, inadvertently saving Kris from further embarrassing himself. He then smiles, that same teasing smirk from earlier that made Kris's heart pitter-patter in beat. "Maybe you can make it worth my time then."

Baekhyun gives him one final wink before eventually stepping out the door, leaving a flushed and speechless Kris behind.

(

Later that night, Kris goes into the bathroom to clean himself up. He stops just a few steps in, however, when he sees a familiar female school uniform neatly folded by the sink - the same one that Baekhyun had been wearing earlier.

Kris picks up the note on top and reads it to himself:

im leaving this here so you'll have smth to remember me by~
who knows, i might get the chance to wear it again soon ;)
- baekhyun :*

)

It's Chanyeol with his blindingly bright smile that greets Kris as soon as he steps into the faculty room the next morning.

Kris makes it sure to head straight to his desk without giving Chanyeol so much as a glance, hoping that his obvious disregard of Chanyeol's presence can ward off his attempts for interrogation. But Chanyeol is nothing but persistent when he wants something - he follows Kris like a puppy, pulling up a chair beside him when Kris finally settles down with his laptop.

It's been an unbearable thirty seconds of silence before Chanyeol finally cracks.

"Sooooo?" Chanyeol drawls. Kris doesn't have to look up from his laptop to know that there's an expectant look on Chanyeol's face at this moment. If Chanyeol has a tail, Kris thinks he'd probably be wagging it pretty enthusiastically as well.

Kris sighs but doesn't let Chanyeol's eagerness for information distract him from his work. He needs to finish this presentation before his first class starts in an hour. "There's really nothing to tell, Chanyeol."

That just about sums up everything that happened in his apartment yesterday. Because while Baekhyun crossdressed for him and Kris, much to no one's surprise, embarrassed himself more than usual because of how obviously inexperienced he was, ultimately, nothing really happened. Baekhyun didn't get to do what he was supposed to do and Kris still remained as untouched as ever.

"Nothing happened?" Chanyeol asks, aghast, as though the mere possibility is far beyond what he had been expecting. Kris answers with a nod.

It's ridiculous how Chanyeol's face quickly falls after that. For a second, Kris can't help but feel guilty for what he did (or what he didn't do-depends on what perspective you're looking at) yesterday. Maybe he should've tried a little harder to make Baekhyun stay, if only to make sure that whatever amount Chanyeol had paid him would at least be worth something.

"I was so sure dressing Baekhyun up would do the trick, though," Chanyeol mumbles to himself. And then, as if trying to conform his thoughts, Chanyeol turns to Kris and asks, "He did wear the school uniform yesterday, right?"

Kris tries his hardest to keep the blush from rising in his cheeks. He'd been praying to all the gods out there that Chanyeol won't bring that up in their conversation, not only because the image that immediately forms in his head still makes him blush like a bonafide virgin, but mainly because he'd been doing his utmost not to think about Baekhyun in general.

Kris inwardly groans. So much for what little progress he'd achieved last night.

"H-He did," Kris stutters. He suddenly remembers that Baekhyun had left the school uniform on his bathroom sink yesterday and makes a mental note to set that thing to flames once he gets home tonight or something.

"And you didn't like it?" Chanyeol asks. He sounds genuinely curious that Kris can't even get himself to doubt what other motives Chanyeol might have behind that question.

"Well...I never said I didn't-" Kris hesitantly admits. Chanyeol gives him an impossibly wide smile that almost splits his face into two. "-but that's really not the point, Chanyeol!"

"What is the point, then?"

Chanyeol is still giving him that smile and Kris just wants to bury himself six feet underground at this point. Kris can't believe he just admitted that out loud to Chanyeol. He's pretty sure Chanyeol's never going to let him live this down. Ever.

"The point is, you have too much free time on your hands to worry about other people's sex lives and, while you may have good intentions, not all of us appreciate that, Chanyeol," Kris explains. He doesn't want to sound harsh, but Kris knows he needs to be stern enough to get his point across.

A look of understanding then dawns across Chanyeol's face and he nods to himself, as though resigning to some kind of inner debate going through in his head.

The first bell suddenly rings, signaling the start of morning classes and subsequently saving Kris's ass from this conversation. Kris stays put while a few other teachers start piling out the door with their things in hand. Chanyeol gets up from his seat as well, gathering his materials for the activity he'd planned for his students today.

"Sorry, I guess I did get a little overboard with that last one," Chanyeol concedes, smiling sheepishly. "But I'll make it up to you, somehow!"

Kris is about to tell Chanyeol that it isn't necessary, that he doesn't need to go out of his way to give Kris something else. But the look on Chanyeol's face tells him that he shouldn't even bother arguing - Chanyeol can't be persuaded otherwise when he's finally decided on something.

"Fine, do what you want," Kris resigns. Chanyeol fistpumps in the air, and he looks ridiculously overjoyed that Kris can't help but snicker.

Chanyeol eventually leaves the faculty room, closing the door behind him. It's a little hard to get some work done after that, despite how much Kris tries his damndest to concentrate. It's outrageous; Kris doesn't even know Baekhyun that well, doesn't know anything about him other than the fact that Baekhyun gets paid by sleeping with other people.

Yet, it's that mystery, that unexplainable urge to know him better, that had Kris up and awake the entire night.

Kris knows it's silly to hope, though. Yesterday was only a one time thing - Kris made it sure that Chanyeol understood that. He can only wish, however, that whatever happened yesterday would be the first and the last time he'd see Baekhyun.

Kris doesn't really need it happening again, especially if he's intent on entirely dismissing Baekhyun from his mind.

(Fate, however, has other plans for him.)

Kris leisurely makes his way towards his apartment after a rather busy day at the university where he's working at. The students' exams week is looming pretty close, which also means double the amount of their usual workload, and Kris finds himself scrambling for time these past few days just so he can finish all the things he needs to do.

Too preoccupied with his thoughts, Kris walks to the door, his key in hand, head still filled with a mental list of tasks he has to accomplish tonight.

"Not even a single greeting for me, Professor?"

Kris turns his head to the side and gapes unattractively, mouth hanging open at the unbelievable sight in front of him.

Baekhyun holds Kris's gaze, has the gall to even shamelessly express his amusement by smirking at him. "Hi."

Kris blinks. Once. Twice. Thrice. Even makes it to a fourth time just to make sure that his eyes aren't playing tricks on him.

It's him. It's really Baekhyun, standing right in front of his apartment.

Right in front of him.

"Are you lost?" Kris blurts out without thinking. In hindsight, Kris thinks that might be a fairly stupid question to ask but there's really no other explanation as to why Baekhyun's here, exactly a week after their first meeting, right?

Baekhyun laughs; it's a short, sweet sound and, for a second, Kris doesn't even mind that Baekhyun's laughing at him. "No, I was just in the neighborhood and remembered that you live close, so I thought I could drop by."

The reason slips so naturally from Baekhyun's mouth as though they're friends, as though there's nothing unusual in this situation at all. Nevermind the fact that Baekhyun even remembers where he lives - Kris is surprised, pleasantly so, that Baekhyun even remembers him despite the very uneventful first encounter they've had.

"You had me wait for you for so long like last time, though," Baekhyun continues. He's probably just teasing but Kris can't help the nagging guilt at the back of his head. It's absurd; there's absolutely no reason why he should feel this way.

"Um, sorry. I got stuck with a lot of paperwork at the university-"

"You really don't have to explain," Baekhyun interrupts, amusement coloring his tone, "I was just teasing you."

Kris flushes an embarrassing red. Yes. Of course, Kris knew that. But, somehow, that didn't stop him from blurting out the very reason why he's been going home later than usual these past few days.

Kris clears his throat. "Do you want to go inside?" He then asks, out of courtesy more than anything else (or so he tries to convince himself, anyway).

"Sure, if you don't mind," Baekhyun answers, and Kris tries not to look too much into the pleased tilt of his lips.

Kris finally unlocks the door and steps inside. Baekhyun trails just a little bit behind him, and the idea alone makes Kris's skin tingle with anxiety. Thankfully, Kris had the sense to clean his place up before he left for work this morning so his apartment doesn't seem as unkempt now as usual.

He heads to the kitchen and proceeds to rummage through his refrigerator. "Anything you want to eat? Or drink, maybe?"

"It's fine, I don't plan on staying too long, anyway," comes Baekhyun's reply.

Kris heads back to the living room and almost trips on his feet on the way there. The sight that greets him is so familiar that Kris can't help but take a sharp intake of breath - Baekhyun is sitting on one of the couches like before, gaze not necessarily focused on anything, teeth gnawing on his bottom lip. Baekhyun doesn't really seem so out of his place in Kris's apartment and that kind of familiarity is what makes everything just a little bit more terrifying for Kris.

It's unfair; Kris has successfully gone through most of the week without thoughts of Baekhyun flitting through his mind every now and then. For Baekhyun to just come barging in his apartment, unannounced, taking Kris by surprise, is rather cruel.

"So," Kris starts, forcing the words out, "what really brings you here?"

Baekhyun only remains silent. He has his hands clasped together on his lap, teeth still worrying on his bottom lip. Every line of his body screams reluctant, anxious, and Kris doesn't really know what to make of it.

"Baekhyun?" Kris prompts. It's the first time Kris has actually called his name, and that seems to snap Baekhyun from whatever trance he's in.

Baekhyun takes a deep breath. And then, "Actually, I'm just here to properly let you know of my plans."

Kris raises an inquisitive brow at him. "Your plans...of what?"

Baekhyun then grins and, in just a snap, any traces of uncertainty from earlier disappear, leaving a sort of determined expression in its wake. "Of sweeping you off your feet."

Kris practically chokes on nothing. What? Did he hear that right? "W-What did you say?"

"I did tell you before, didn't I? No one's ever resisted my charms before. At least until I met you," Baekhyun says instead. It's nowhere near close to the answer that Kris is looking for and, if anything, Baekhyun's response makes him even more confused than he already was before.

"The fact that you didn't even hesitate to reject my advances just made me like you even more," Baekhyun shamelessly admits. Kris feels like his entire world just turned upside down. "You're interesting, Professor Kris Wu. And I guess I really like to get to know you better. If you'll let me."

Kris doesn't really have anything to say to that. Or, rather, he can't find the right words that can appropriately express what he feels at the current moment. Seeing Baekhyun for the second time was already a farfetched idea in Kris's head, but this-this was unthinkable. Kris never imagined this would happen, not even in a million years.

"That was honestly the only thing I came here for," Baekhyun admits. He starts to get up from his seat and the mere action sends Kris into a sort of panic. He hasn't even said a word yet! What would Baekhyun think of his silence?

And then, as if hearing what Kris has in mind, Baekhyun continues, "I don't need an answer straight away. I know this must have been quite a shock for you, but I didn't want to let another week go by without letting you know."

Finally reaching the door, Baekhyun turns to Kris once more, throwing a smile in his direction. Kris thinks that the warm, genuine tilt of those lips is even deadlier than the wink Baekhyun had sent his way last week. "I'll see you very soon, Professor."

The door closes behind him with a click and, for the second time since he's met Baekhyun, Kris is, once again, left dumbfounded and speechless.

"You're interesting, Professor Kris Wu," Tao repeats mockingly before letting out a stream of giggles. He almost doubles over in laughter when Sehun, the little shit that he is, repeats the same thing with a different intonation this time, his voice eerily high and nasally than usual.

Kris has to remind himself over and over again that Tao is his cousin, and that he'd learned to treat Sehun like his own didi throughout the years as well. So it probably wouldn't do anyone any good if he loses his cool and accidentally punches both of them in the face.

Kris turns to Chanyeol, a betrayed look written all over his face. "Traitor. I thought you wouldn't tell a soul!"

"I didn't!" Chanyeol exclaims, quick to defend himself. "I didn't know you would tell me something so confidential when you called so I had my phone on loudspeaker. And then...you know...these two were here that time so..."

Kris groans. Tao only continues to laugh at his misfortune. The brat. He really should stop hanging out with Sehun so much. "You won't be able to keep it a secret for long, anyway, ge. You know we'd still find out about it sooner or later."

Which is somewhat true, Kris supposes. There's only so much he can do before Tao eventually finds out about Baekhyun so bringing him up in a conversation as early as now can probably help Kris in the long run. Hopefully.

"So, what's he like, hyung?" Sehun asks. He's halfway through stuffing a whole slice of pizza in his mouth and Kris has half a mind to remind him about eating his food slowly.

"I don't know," Kris admits, shrugging. "We've only met twice, and we never really got to talk to each other that much for both times. So other than the plain observation that he's kind of assertive and has a...pretty face, I don't really know anything else about him."

In hindsight, Kris thinks it's a little regretful that he really doesn't know anything substantial about Baekhyun. They've met for two times, yet have practically wasted both of them on small talk. But then again, Kris never really expected to meet Baekhyun on his 30th birthday, much less see him again just a week after that, so Kris guesses it really can't be helped. He knows he won't have another flimsy excuse like this for when they meet again (if there really will be a third time) but maybe then...

"Assertive and pretty, huh," Tao ponders out loud. "Sounds like the perfect guy for you, ge."

Kris chokes on his drink. He can't say he completely agrees with that, quite honestly. If anything, Baekhyun is terrible news for him because he just knows how to push Kris's buttons without even trying.

Chanyeol hums in agreement. "Looks like he's pretty interested in you, too."

At that, Kris turns to him, narrows his eyes at Chanyeol in suspicion. "You didn't pay him to come to my apartment and say all those things to me, did you?"

Chanyeol looks at him incredulously, like Kris has just said the most offending thing ever. "Of course not! I haven't seen Baekhyun since I paid him to sleep with you that first time, okay?"

Kris only continues to stare at Chanyeol, trying to find any kind of clue if he's lying through his teeth or not. Chanyeol steadily holds his gaze, as though he knows exactly what Kris is doing and is resolute to prove that he's telling the truth.

"Hyung, why don't you just give him a chance? Maybe he really does genuinely like you," Sehun says.

"As surprising as that is," Tao mutters. Kris glares at him.

Kris isn't usually stubborn but, somehow, he finds it hard to believe that possibility, especially considering the nature of Baekhyun's job. Baekhyun pleases other people for a living, knows all the right words to say to make a man go weak in the knees. How can Kris believe someone who can effortlessly charm anyone, just because it's his job to do so? And don't they have some kind of rule about dating their clients, anyway?

"Yeah," Chanyeol easily agrees, "just see how it goes, you know. This might turn out to be a pretty good thing for the both of you."

Kris is still a little hesitant to give in. But with the three of them ganging up on him like this, coupled with Baekhyun's words still ringing in his head, he's beginning to think he doesn't really have much of a choice.

His almost overbearing workload at the university helps Kris forget about Baekhyun. For a while, at least. It's a blessing of some sort - not having Baekhyun on his mind constantly, that is, because Kris can't be sure he can get his work done when he's completely distracted with other things.

His much needed reprieve doesn't last long, though.

Kris comes home one Friday night and sees Baekhyun again, leaning against the wall, waiting with a plastic bag in his hand. It shouldn't even surprise Kris, seeing as it's the third time that he's seen Baekhyun waiting for him outside of his apartment but it still makes Kris's heart jump in its place every time it happens.

For a moment, Kris finds himself mesmerized. The moonlight hits Baekhyun's face in all the right angles, making him seem quite ethereal and breathtaking. He looks pretty serene, so deep in his thoughts that Kris kind of feels bad for what he's about to do next.

"Baekhyun?" Kris hesitantly calls.

Baekhyun visibly jerks before he turns his head to where Kris is standing. Almost immediately, a smile pulls at the corner of his lips and Kris has to stop himself from gasping out loud. How can someone be so effortlessly beautiful like this? "Hi," he meekly greets. "Sorry for coming here unannounced again. Just thought I could bring you something we could share?"

When Kris only answers him with a raised brow, Baekhyun lifts the plastic bag in his hand. "Just a few cans of beer and snacks."

Kris unconsciously grimaces. "Uh, I don't think-"

Baekhyun quietly laughs before Kris can even finish his sentence. "Don't worry, I won't take advantage of you when you're drunk, okay? I already tried to do that when you were sober; I'm not going to risk another chance of you bruising my ego again."

Kris's face reddens. God, he's not even thinking about that! Baekhyun, on the other hand, seems to have taken a liking to teasing Kris by bringing up that time over and over again.

"I know Chanyeol's been extra stressed this week so I figured, maybe, you were, too. Just thought a quick break from work would help you. Or something like that," Baekhyun explains. He follows it up with a rather awkward laugh and Kris, somehow, realizes that Baekhyun's just as nervous as he is.

Kris can honestly think of a few reasons why drinking the night away with Baekhyun isn't a good idea - he's not a good drinker, his alcohol tolerance is shitty on his best days and practically nonexistent on the others, he tends to embarrass himself more so than usual when he's drunk. And, of course, there's always that possibility that Kris might jump on him if Baekhyun even so much as smiles slyly in his direction. But the conversation he had with Chanyeol, Sehun and Tao before suddenly comes back to him in a rush, reminding him of their advice, and before Kris knows it, he's already opening his mouth to accept Baekhyun's invitation.

Well, why not? He doesn't have work tomorrow and he's been thinking about calling Chanyeol to come over and have a few drinks with him tonight, anyway.

(That's nowhere near true; Kris doesn't have any plans other than sleeping in tonight. But no one needs to know that.)

"I guess drinking once in a while won't hurt," Kris says. It earns him another one of Baekhyun's beautiful relieved smiles and Kris can't really get himself to regret his decision even if he tries.

Once they step inside, Baekhyun steers towards the couches and plops down on one of them. He then proceeds to carefully take out the cans of beer out of the plastic and places them one by one on the little coffee table that Kris had set up in his living room. Kris furtively watches all of this, unable to take his eyes away from Baekhyun for some reason. It's silly, but Kris thinks he's never felt stranger in his own home until today.

"Is there something wrong?" Baekhyun asks, snapping Kris back into reality. The concerned furrow of his eyebrows has Kris feeling so bad; he finds himself wanting to move closer so he can rub them away his fingers.

Kris shakes his head, both to keep him grounded and to answer Baekhyun's question. "Do you, uh, mind if I change first, though?"

"Sure," Baekhyun says, "I'll just be here waiting."

As he stumbles into his bedroom, Kris tries not to think too much into things. He tries to calm himself down, tries to keep his heart from flying right out of his mouth. He quickly changes into his comfortable clothes, stares at his reflection in the mirror, and takes a deep breath. The thought of Baekhyun waiting for him back in the living room is a bit unsettling, and Kris hasn't exactly prepared himself for something like this again. But he had promised to try and exert a little more effort to get to know Baekhyun better if they ever meet for the third time, so Kris isn't going to back out from this now.

He steels himself before opening the door, taking one last calming breath to settle his nerves down. As expected, Baekhyun is patiently waiting for him back in the living room. He welcomes Kris with a cunning smile and a, "so how about we play a little game?"

"Game?" Kris asks. He throws caution to the wind and occupies the seat next to Baekhyun. The space sitting in between them is just enough for Kris to feel the heat radiating off of Baekhyun's skin. "What kind of game?"

"You know the game never have I ever, right?" Baekhyun asks back. At Kris's slight nod, he continues, "so we take turns asking questions and if the person has done it, they'll have to take a swig from their beer." Baekhyun offers a can of beer to Kris before getting one for himself as well. "Deal?"

Kris shrugs. It sounds pretty easy. He's never played this game before, quite honestly, but he'd seen how people do it at all those parties that Chanyeol had dragged him along before so he fairly knows how it works. "Should I start?"

"Feeling confident, huh," Baekhyun teases. He opens his own can of beer with a hiss and then gestures for Kris to do the same. "Go and give it your best shot, then."

Kris decides to throw a rather easy and safe question. "Never have I ever fallen asleep inside the cinema."

Baekhyun makes a face and quickly takes a hearty gulp from his can of beer. Kris snorts. Which then prompts Baekhyun to pout and explain himself, "In my defense, I haven't gotten a blink of sleep that day when they dragged me to come with them! And, look, it was a really boring movie, okay. It was so boring that I can't even get myself to remember what it was."

"Anyway, it's my turn!" Baekhyun says with much enthusiasm. Kris is amused at how Baekhyun seems a little too invested in such a silly game. It's cute. "Hmm. Never have I ever aced a test without studying."

Kris flushes but takes a quick drink from his own, grimacing when the awful taste of beer reaches his throat. This time, it's Baekhyun who snorts. "I guess that's pretty typical for you, Professor." Baekhyun pensively looks at Kris, his chin resting in one hand. There's an unnamed emotion reflected in his eyes that Kris can't quite understand. "You're handsome, intelligent and not at all an easy guy. You're really turning out to be way out of my league the more I get to know you."

Kris tries not to flush an even more embarrassing red at Baekhyun's words. It's a little frustrating how he always seems so unguarded when Baekhyun's around, how Baekhyun always manages to take him by surprise with every little thing he says or does. Kris finds it a little hard to keep up; he's not at all used to having someone so straightforward like Baekhyun barging into his life, brazenly expressing his feelings without even the slightest bit of hesitation.

"If you can't come up with something in the next five seconds, you'll have to take another drink from your beer," Baekhyun suddenly announces.

Kris jerks in surprise, eyes widening at Baekhyun. "But that wasn't in the rules earlier!"

"It is now~," Baekhyun singsongs. "Now, quick, before your time runs out!"

Obviously, Baekhyun has some kind of evil scheme for him to get drunk but Kris swears he's absolutely not going to fall into that trap. He quickly rattles his brain for something, anything. It's quite unfortunate, however, that Kris just has to catch a glimpse of Baekhyun's lips, pink and moist from the beer he'd consumed earlier, right before he ends up blurting the very first thing he could think of-

"Never have I ever made out under the stars."

Baekhyun only looks at Kris, his can of beer still held firmly in his grasp. He doesn't take a single gulp from it. "Romantic," Baekhyun plainly says. A smile that doesn't quite reach his eyes paints itself on his face. "But I don't exactly do romantic things, you know."

Kris wants to ask what that means but before he can even open his mouth, Baekhyun is already firing another question. "Never have I ever experienced love at first sight."

Baekhyun is staring at him interest when Kris lifts the can to his lips, taking a big gulp in one go. "Sophomore year. Fell in love with someone in our class. It never really worked out between us in the end, though," Kris says. Baekhyun isn't asking for any kind of explanation, nor is Kris obliged to give him one but Kris ends up saying it anyway. Kris suspects it might be the beginning effect of the alcohol, though.

The game continues for a few more rounds after that. Kris finds out a lot of things about Baekhyun, some even bordering on plain ridiculous more than the others. He learns that Baekhyun isn't a big fan of the cold weather, that he was able to ride a bike when he was six years old, that he tried to sneak into a club with a fake ID because he was still a minor that time, that he once fooled around in his roommate's bed in college as a dare. They continue to play all throughout the night, coming up with silly questions for each other - Kris randomly spouts about cross-dressing at one point and Baekhyun teases him with the intimate placing of his tattoo when they somehow reach that topic. Kris ends up getting drunk just halfway through his third can of beer, making his tongue loose and his head a little fuzzy that Kris can't think straight anymore. Baekhyun, on the other hand, seems to hold his alcohol a lot better than Kris had expected. Damn it.

"You really are drunk, aren't you?" Baekhyun asks, amused. Kris doesn't remember opening his mouth to answer but maybe he actually did, because the next thing he knows, Baekhyun is already assisting him up, his arm slung over Baekhyun's shoulder.

Kris stumbles with every other step he makes, the alcohol in his system making it difficult for him to actually walk without tripping on his own feet. Baekhyun can't help but laugh at him every time it happens, the tinkling sound brushing against Kris's ear. Kris can't even get himself to feel embarrassed. He's basically so drunk that the only thing keeping him upright at this moment is the tight grip of Baekhyun's arm around his waist.

It feels nice, Kris blearily thinks. Baekhyun fits so well under his arm, like he really belongs there-

Baekhyun eventually plops him down onto his bed and Kris immediately misses the feeling of Baekhyun's warmth against his skin. Baekhyun pulls the comforter up to his chin and firmly tucks him in like a little child. "Sleep," he orders.

It doesn't take long before darkness starts to claim him, pulling him away from the fringes of reality. The last thing Kris remembers is the feeling of Baekhyun's fingers softly carding through his hair before he eventually passes out.

The spectacular headache that greets him the moment he opens his eyes the next morning reminds Kris why he never likes drinking in the first place.

If he wasn't nursing such a terrible hangover right now, Kris would've appreciated the high-noon sun shining through his window, cutting through his curtains and bathing his whole room in a warm light. But as it is, Kris can only screw his eyes shut again as he tries to fight through his migraine.

He groans. Fuck. He really shouldn't have drank that much.

Although, admittedly, Kris had a lot of fun last night. He can't remember the last time he'd freely told ridiculous things about himself to someone, can't remember how long it had been since he laughed so hard that there were already tears gathering at the corners of his eyes. It was a little awkward between them at first but Baekhyun knew exactly what to say to bring Kris out of his shell. Maybe it was why he brought the alcohol to Kris's place last night - he probably knew it would help Kris loosen up a bit, lower his inhibitions so he wouldn't be too hesitant to divulge things about himself.

Baekhyun.

Kris can't say things will be easy between them after last night, but he definitely thinks they'll at least be a little more comfortable around each other the next time they meet again (or, maybe, that just applies to Kris. Baekhyun's been plenty comfortable hanging around his apartment for the past three times, hasn't he?).

The sudden, incessant beeping of his phone catches Kris's attention, making him lose his train of thought. Kris deliberately ignores it for a while, hoping that it'll stop ringing eventually. It doesn't, however, and it continues to make that annoying, shrill sound which is only amplified by the residual alcohol still in Kris's system. He's about to throw a glare at the inanimate object innocently lying on his bedside table when he notices something else.

There's a glass of water and two nondescript, white pills placed beside his phone. Stuck on the glass is also a little paper with a short note written on it. Kris already knew who it's from before he can even read its content - it's ridiculous that he can recognize this handwriting even from a distance.

aspirin for your hangover~~!
feel better soon, professor (´ε` ) )
- baekhyun

p.s. didnt know ur such a terrible drinker >:)

Before Kris is even fully conscious of what he's doing, there's already a smiling pulling at the corners of his lips, brightening the otherwise horrible expression he had on his face earlier. He feels warmer than usual, a different kind of warmth that floods his chest, reaching until the tips of his fingers and his toes. Kris blames it on the fact that no one's done something like this for him before and nothing else. Baekhyun's just being considerate, Kris tells himself, and this - the strange emotion squeezing his chest - this is just him feeling so thankful for Baekhyun's kindness.

Deciding not to think too much about it anymore, Kris struggles to prop himself up on his pillow, the throbbing pain behind his eyelids only worsening even with the slightest movement he makes. He tosses the pills into his mouth and downs them with huge gulps of water. Kris decides to lie back down after, but not before snatching his still ringing phone from the table first so he can finally answer the damn thing.

"Hello?" Kris greets, frowning. His throat still feels raw and scratchy.

"Why do you sound like death?"

"Chanyeol," Kris groans out. He buries his head even more into his pillow, hoping in vain that doing so can help ease his stupid headache. "It's Saturday; what in the world do you want?"

"Well, sorry for going out of my way just to check on you," Chanyeol huffs. "You were supposed to meet Tao today, remember? But you weren't answering his calls or his messages! He was so worried, you know."

Shit. Kris had forgotten about that. He'd made plans with Tao to check out the new art exhibit that just opened a week ago but because he'd been buried nose-deep in his work at the university, Kris had promised to go with Tao once his schedule clears up. Tao had even called him last afternoon to remind him about it and Kris feels like a complete asshole now for forgetting something so important like that. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

"I'm sorry, it completely slipped my mind," Kris admits. "I'll call Tao right away and-"

"Nah, it's fine now. Sehun said he'll go with Tao instead since he doesn't have anywhere to be today. Which is really good and all because I don't think you can get up from your bed even if you try, anyway," Chanyeol goes on. Kris silently agrees. He can't even move an inch without wanting to bash his head in against the nearest hard surface, honestly. "Seriously, man, what's up? You sound like you're dying or something."

"Not dying, just a terrible hangover," Kris says. "Baekhyun went to my apartment and brought a few cans of beer last night. I think I got a little carried away with drinking."

"WHAT!" Chanyeol roars from the other line. Kris immediately pulls the phone away from his ear, both shocked and agitated at Chanyeol's sudden, loud voice.

"Damn it, Chanyeol, keep it down!"

"Oops, sorry," Chanyeol says, bashful. "Anyway, let me repeat that again; Baekhyun went to your apartment last night and brought you beer?"

"Yeah."

"And you two got piss drunk together?"

"Yeah..." More like Kris got drunk embarrassingly fast while Baekhyun was, apparently, still sober enough to bring him to bed when Kris couldn't even hold himself up any longer. But Chanyeol doesn't really need to know that bit.

"And?"

"And?" Kris repeats, unable to believe that this pointless conversation is still going on. He's starting to get more and more agitated by the second - playing 20 questions with Chanyeol isn't really helping with his headache right now. There are really much more important things he could be doing instead. Like sleeping. "That's all. He brought me to bed and left after that. Nothing else happened between us, if that's what you want to know."

"Very unsurprising. I'm not sure why I was expecting something else," Chanyeol grumbles.

"Are we done with this conversation? Can I hang up now? This headache is really killing me, Chanyeol."

"Serves you right for having a good time without me," Chanyeol mutters into the receiver. Kris is pretty sure he's frowning on the other end of the line. "But yeah, yeah, go ahead and rest."

Before Kris can even start to put the phone down, however, Chanyeol blurts out, "One last thing, by the way! The brats and I are thinking of going out next week. You should bring Baekhyun along so they can finally meet your new boyf-"

Kris rudely hangs up, but not before storing that invitation at the very back of his mind.
