Artwork/studies from school here!!!

Mar 20, 2007 19:37

Alright, the entry I've been wanting to do for months now, but only recently have been able to. For long term readers [you know who you are] not only do I EXPECT you to read this, but I also expect you to comment. Why? Because all of you guys have been so supportive about me going to art school and finally I have proof of my hard work, so that in turn, is why you guys are required to comment.

A little intro. I've been going to a local art school part time [one day a week, a full 8 hours] since Sept. of last year. I love it alot, even if it makes me want to throw myself against a wall at times.

At school we work from "plates" from the Charles Bargue curriculum. If you don't know what that is, go here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Bargue

I study off these "plates" and do intense studies. The way I think of this curriculum and how it helps you as an artist is: imagine building an amazing house, well you have to have the right foundation. And let me tell you, this curriculum is a very solid and thorough foundation.

I feel that these studies are completely and utterly rewarding. I can't believe how much I've advanced with this curriculum and now I really see, that school is exactly what I needed.

And finally, to the pictures. Their not the best, I don't have a tripod. But your here to get a general gist of what I'm doing in school, what I've been up to and to see how much I've improved. I'm providing links because I refuse to size down my images to thumbnail size and I'm also considerate enough to know that people hate [or at least I do] it when other people post GINORMOUS images on their journals. Aren't I considerate? Enjoy.

Because Gina asked, these are pencil/graphite drawings on medium weight paper. :D

Mostly boring, but an interesting view.

One of my best ones I think. Can we all say fore-shortened? :P

This one disagreed with my flash, but nonetheless, this one came out ok.

Watch out or I'll fucking cut you. Lmao, but really, I love this one. If I look at it enough, I have to remind myself its a drawing and not a picture. Oooooh creepy.

I finished this one today. Suicide anyone? I was considering it. To me it looks ok. But both of my teachers thought I did a lovely job. Sometimes you can just be too close to something to see if its good or not. All I know is that this plate nearly effing killed me and I'm just glad its fucking done.

Alright, maybe not as long as of a list as I was hoping for. But oh well. I omitted some studies because not all of them are that interesting to look at. And others were from my beginning days and were mediocre or once again, boring to look at.

Expect another art related entry in a few months, when I've built up my sketchbook again.

Any and all comments are completely welcome and actually desired.

Thank you for your time.
