Near Mass Slaughter at Empire Park Lane

The big highlight of my week last week was supposed to be a Friday night viewing of "Leonard Cohen - I'm Your Man" at Park Lane with waiting33. It came out the week before, and I was geared up to go. I love Leonard Cohen. Always have. It's one of those strange things about me that people just shake their head at. He's fabulous. I had been waiting for months for this movie to come out.

So, we went and had a decent dinner at Pogue Fado. The food was alright, the atmosphere was great, but the service SUCKED. We left there, wandered up to Smittys, as we knew there we could get unlimited damned good coffee for awhile and something for dessert. Stopped at a few little shops along the way. We had our coffee and waited until nine or so to head back to Park Lane.

Walked down to the ticket booth, and the conversation went something like this.

Jen - "One for Leonard Cohen please"
Empire Minion - "Oh... uhhhh..."
Jen - *looks above his head waiting for lightbulb to come on*
Empire Minion - "That's not playing here now"
Jen - "WHAT?!?!?!"
Empire Minion - "We pulled it last night"
Jen - "WHAT?!?!?!"
Empire Minion - "We pulled it"
Jen - "But its still in your listings, it wasn't even out for a WEEK"
Empire Minion - "We pulled it"
Jen - "Is it playing somewhere else?"
Empire Minion - "No"

My mood completely deflated. We had had dinner, coffee, shopped... what the hell was left to do? We drove to the Oxford to see if A Scanner Darkly had already started, and it had. So, we called it quits for the night.

Damned Empire. Pulling my movie for something more profitable.
