RIP Patrick Swayze. You were the first crush I had on a man, not a boy, at age 13 when I first saw Dirty Dancing (a movie I still love, cheesiness notwithstanding). And I can thank that film for introducing me to the great Solomon Burke:

Like the rest of the world, I was shocked yesterday to learn of Michael Jackson's passing.
