I've just given up to the fact that I read all of your all's journals but never update my own. I am currently sitting here after doing very little today. Woke up around 8am this morning... a full hour and 25 minutes before my first class. Had a cup of coffee9haven't done that in a while) and then went to the music building. It was really nice and refreshing to go to the practice rooms before class. I don't normally do this so it was definitely different. Went to theology where Dr. Fuller decided to ramble more excessively than usual when talking about the Gospel of John and trying to make connections to what was put in Mel Gibson's Passion of Christ and what was written in John. He also talked about the Gospel of Judas which has been taking some spotlight this week. I find it interesting to learn about the Gnostics' approach to who Jesus was and how they interpret his death and resurrection. It's totally different from what Christianity is today.
Oh well... it got especially boring near the end of class and I went to grab my piano book from my bag to get some of the scale fingerings for piano(I'm hopelessly the worst piano player ever) and trying to make scale note cards that Meme wanted me to bring to my practice today. Well as I'm reaching in I feel something crawl across my wrist... normally I would have thought it might have been a paper or something but it wasn't going at the same speed that my hand was going in the bag. I look in just in time to see a medium sized spider... about the size of a nickel crawl further into my backpack. Not fun.... I'm not afraid of spiders but this guy looked like one that would bite. Nice ebony color that had those pointy type legs that looked like they could jump... so about two mintues later my class ends and I dump my bag over the table and it comes running out... lucky for me Eric was sitting next to me and was ready( I had alerted him to the fact there was a spider in my bag) and he squashed it...Unfortunately it was with the piano fingering flashcards I had made... so I had to explain to Meme why C#major was missing.
Then I ran off to have a quick practice with Meme before Convocation... for those of you at home it's basically a student recital where a bunch of people play different things. So I got there a little late and went over the beginning of my piece... she started it a little slow but I didn't really think it was worth it to say anything. So then we get backstage and I listen to Neauvo Gumbo(One of our jazz ensembles) and then Bart play and then it's my turn. The piano is at full stick(or open all the way) and I don't think to put it down. So Meme starts off my piece and it seems ungodly slow. Well I ended up realizing that it was twice as slow as it should have been, and loud(because the piano was open all the way). I had to take breaths where I shouldn't have. It was a Handel piece and he's not very kind to wind instruments and writes in a bunch of sixteenth notes with no breaths. It would have been fine if we took it at tempo but it ended up being awful because I had to breath so much. Oh well, I'll get over it.
Went to music history and had a fifteen minute class and then went to Shenanigan's with Wesley, Alli and Michael. It was really nice. We got to sit outside today and Alli and I polished off an entire pitcher of sweet tea together. It definitely wa around a hour and a half lunch. Alli and I went to Target afterward and refused to buy anything impulsively until we got to the checkout and she got a magazine and me being a germ-a-phobe I got hand sanitizer(ran out at lunch). She dropped me off and I sat around talking to Connie for a good while and then Sarah came home. For those of you who don't know, Nina moved out on Sunday and is commuting from home. Sarah got a house with her boyfriend, and Connie is renting a room from them. So in the end I'm the only one left in the house. I won! Yay... not really. The house is just to big and creepy at night. This is why I'm glad I'll be moving in with Jessica and Alli, I don't like living alone. I cleaned a little and gave up... too much and I'll have to start sorting through stuff when I get back on Monday for stuff I want to leave in Louisville if wee get this house we've been looking at... Alli and Jessica's credit have to pull through. I'm stull wondering if it will be early or mid may when we can move in... if so then I can leave stuff in the house. If not I'll have to try to truck all my stuff home only to have to make a trip back to move in sometime during the summer.
I'm sort of technically coming home tomorrow night, but on Thursday I'm leaving for Ohio to see my grandparents. We're driving back probably midday Sunday and then I'll be flying back in the morning on Monday to make afternoon classes. Not much time at home. I haven't been back since Aisha's wedding in January and I miss it and everyone.
I'm so ready for this semester to be done... I just want to sit in a hammock and drink sweet tea(Alli, you've got me hooked) all day. Maybe read a couple of books (katy, you've gotten me hooked on those Anise things :P). Everything is winding down and I just have to get one more chapter of accounting down, study and take a quiz on it, then a test and then the final and I'm done with that class!!!! Music history I have one more paper I think... then a listening quiz and then the final. Tech I still have a bunch to do... finish my original piece, the CD medley(I'm doing a medley of 21 different David Bowie songs... kinda cool), presto-chango(I have to take a song, one of the Beatles' songs and change it just enough that I could get away without infringing upon rights) and then I have to do something else... can't remember. Oh well.. I've written enough for now so I hope that gives you a slight update... maybe more later :)
