I've been getting some very odd comments on Livejournal posts, some of them older posts. These comments aren't spam, or trolling, or anything bad you would expect them to be, they're just... strange. They simply have nothing to do with the things I've posted, sometimes obviously written by people for whom English is a second language.
here's one I got the other day, (first comment, not
lexixanatos487's lol) and
one I received today on a post that's a year old (the whole way at the bottom). What do you guys think these are, and should I delete them? Just very strange...
Meanwhile, I have fallen in love with
daguerreotypes. Have you ever seen one? And I don't mean have you ever seen a photo of one, I mean have you ever seen one in person? Because it's a totally different experience actually seeing one than seeing a photo of one. They're amazing: they're made on a highly polished piece of silver, so when you hold it at one angle, all you see is reflections of yourself and the room, and when you tilt it you can see the negative image, and then tilt it a little farther and the picture appears. And the pictures on daguerreotypes seem to have a depth to them, almost as if they're holograms. I learned that the pictures actually DO have depth to them; the light parts of the picture have more silver molecules stacked up and the dark parts have less, so the picture is actually incredibly accurate, even on a molecular level! It's simply amazing. After my class saw a bunch of them at special collections yesterday a few of us were like WHERE CAN WE GET ONE DONE? Unfortunately, tho you CAN still get a daguerreotype done these days,
they cost hundreds of dollars. :( You know, back in the heyday, they were crazy cheap--you could get one done for twenty-five cents. You could get your horse shod and go around the corner to the daguerreotypist and get a picture done for the same cost!
Well, off to do some actual work, I suppose. *sigh*
