Probably, THE MOST IMPORTANT TIP FOR BEING HAPPY is to try to forget your past and not to try to look into your future, but to live and feel only HERE AND NOW. Try to feel the beauty of every moment.
The problems of the life are mostly problems of how do we perceive the world. If you cannot make a problem disappear, just change your opinion about this problem, try to perceive it in a different way. IF YOU CANNOT CHANGE THE WORLD, CHANGE YOUR PERCEPTION OF IT.
If we try to follow faithfully these two simple rules the wisdom of the humankind has preserved to us, and all the psychoanalysts have simply repeated, we will start living happily and enjoy our lives.
Try to live simply, here and now, to enjoy the present moment of your existence.
Try to look at everything around you in a different way. Don't try to change your life, just change your point of view.
NO MONEY - there's ALWAYS A SOLUTION
Second hand shopping in Athens
Shopping is one thing that helps to calm and decompress, to start looking at life more optimistically. Unfortunately, it always depends of our means. Second hand shopping can be a nice solution sometimes.
I have been in some second hand shops. With few euros in your pocket, you can buy nice books and magazines in English, French, German, to change your wardrobe or simply to pass your time. Some addresses you can find on Greek blogger pages, but I mention now only places in which I have been myself, and it seems to reward. I'll try to continue discovering second hand shops of Athens and share my info here.
Metro station MONASTIRAKI
Monastiraki was traditionally flea market area. Now lately many shops closed and the newly opened are mostly tourist ones, or city shops with common prices and no respect to your pocket. However, you still can find here second hand books - CD- DVD shops with very friendly prices (3-5 euros).
On Ifaistou Str (οδος Ηφαίστου) which starts on the left from the square of Monstiraki metro station you will find some second hand CD shops (they sell old vinyl records also). At the end of Ifaistou starts Astigos street ( οδος Αστιγγος ) which is a real treasure house of used books in all languages. Very few euros will be enough to fill your bag with interesting books.
Second hand clothes you will find in American market (Αμερικάνικη αγορά)- 30, Athinas street ( οδος Αθηνας ) also starting from Monastiraki square. American market is on the 2nd and 3th floor of the building hidden behind the small church of Agia Kyriaki ( Αγία Κυριακή) on the right side of the street walking from Monastiraki square. American market was the name of the US aid distribution center after the Second World War. It became slowly used US clothes shop, very popular until now. Every week new collections of second hand clothes arrive from New York. Wealthy people are clients of the shop too, but they use not to reveal this, second hand shopping is still frowned upon in Greece.
