Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Gandhi, Mary Wollstonecraft, Rosa Parks, to name a few, were all people from my world--some still live today--who fought against an oppressive and unfair system. Apartheit, independance, women's rights, the first step to stopping racial segregation-- they were only people, small people who many would not remember, if not for ( Read more... )

Would you be willing to fill in a newcomer about all this?

Basically, it goes hand-in-hand with the graffitti around the City, but not really, because I don't know who organized that.

And I think it's explained pretty well up there.

What if I told you I barely know a thing about these Deities aside from bringing the dead back? I wouldn't mind that myself, but I have some issues with this sort of thing. From what you're saying, there really isn't a political structure here.

I did have a look at the graffiti when I came in, though. Did they really think that would work against leaders who call themselves Gods?

We have a police force, like I said, and it acts based on...I'm not exactly sure, to be honest. Seeing how many of the citizens are people with super-powers, the jails here are a bit obsolete. Aside from bringing back the dead, the Deities hold control--or it is said that way--over when we leave, if we leave, if we return, if we keep our memories; as well as curses, which are honestly the worst parts. They can go from violation of privacy, to killing you just for the kicks of having a plague sweep the City clean, then bringing you back to life the next day again, to name two. I can't say I've been through many, but from what I've heard, they get worse.

No, probably not. I doubt it even annoys them. But it is still better to do something than do nothing. Even if it's just to tickle a giant's arm.

Poor Lyle. Even now, he is not awesome enough to be his name. irresoluteness March 25 2009, 22:12:03 UTC
So we really are tools left up to them to play with. I've already felt the violation of privacy when my phone call was sent to the network, and while I'd say that's harmless, it's a small thing that adds to the big picture.

What if your peaceful march doesn't get anywhere?

A march always gets somewhere, by definition.

It means you're standing up. But if you're marching about Deities, it may mean you aren't moving anywhere in their eyes.

Either way, you're making people think. I admire that.

That's my original intention. Maybe this march won't make a difference in their eyes, but maybe other people who will make a difference will be influenced by it.

It's a start.

All right, I'm new here, but I'll be showing up. I can't stand powers like these Deities, and it wouldn't be like me to stand aside and let them do this. I'm not one for banners, but I'll do what I can.
