Yesterday, during my flight back to school, the captain came on the intercom and said "Ladies and Gentlemen, I'd just like to point out that there are several members of our U.S. Armed Forces traveling with us in first class this afternoon. I'd like to let them know that we all appreciate the work they do, so how about a big round of applause back there?" and as the passengers responded with proud applause, I threw up into a paper bag. The events were not related, but it was a funny enough coincidence that I almost didn't mind being airsick for the first time in my life.
I just thought about Trainspotting, how rereading my favorite bits would be the perfect way to spend a few hours, and then I realized I might have left it at home. Then I spun around to my bookcase, and when I saw its big orange spine I actually said "Yes!" out loud. It's that good. Rich, thank you so much for giving that book to me.
Cutlet is getting bigger and more active. I can't wait to get her a playmate/husband next time the Petsmart gets some more african dwarf frogs in.
I am submitting the following conversation to Overheard in New York:
Flight attendant: Something to drink?
Husband: I'll have a beer, I think.
Flight attendant: May I see some I.D.? ...All right, we have Miller Lite and Heineken.
Husband: Miller Lite.
[Flight attendant goes to front of plane to get it]
Husband: I'm eighteen years older than she is.
Wife: We've been married eighteen years.
