I forgot to mention one other movie I saw not too long ago: Moulin Rouge. Kurt happened to own it on DVD, so I saw it in Modesto.

I finished the Anne of Green Gables audiobook this morning on the way to work. I’d like to thank Lindsay for bringing that one to mind via a link she posted on Facebook recently. It had been in my mental “To Read” list for far too long. I’ve been given to understand it’s a series; however, I think I will stop here. I loved it, especially the stuff involving Matthew, but I kind of like the open ending. I feel good about leaving the story here. Besides, if I read the rest, there’d be no “scope for imagination”. :)

I’d like to end with a quote from Chapter XXXVI, which really struck me this morning:

We pay a price for everything we get or take in this world; and although ambitions are well worth having, they are not to be cheaply won, but exact their dues of work and self-denial, anxiety and discouragement.

In the past few years, I’ve allowed discouragement get in the way of my ambitions. I aim to remedy that.
