I had my mid-term ultrasound Monday morning, and we're having a boy! Andy was really happy and relieved. Now he won't have to worry that he won't get his boy. We're hoping to have a girl next...in a few years. I'm now halfway through my pregnancy. So far Baby seems to be healthy and growing right. He was very active during the ultrasound. Because of my chronic hypertension, they want to see me every 4 weeks for an ultrasound to check for proper continued growth. I may or may not have to start medication to control the high blood pressure. So far, it hasn't been too high, but it might get up there in a few weeks. Hopefully I will not be in the minority that develops pre-eclampsia either.
This week has gone by fast. The registries are all set. The crib I ordered came a couple days ago. I bought a changing table with pad at a garage sale for just $25. I'm hoping the spray paint I ordered will match the crib well and go on and stay on well. Now I just need to clear out the baby room of boxes etc., so we can put the crib together. The walls are white. I was planning to paint them, but I might not. The baseboards definitely need to be painted though. I just read about an idea to "paste" up fabric onto the wall with starch for a kind of wallpaper. I'm not sure if this will work for us though because the walls are textured. I might just make fabric cutouts of sea animals (That's the theme I want) to adhere to the wall.
Last night when I got into bed, I had my hand on my belly and felt Baby move from the inside and the outside! I think I've been feeling him move since around Easter, but last night was the first time I could feel him move with my hand. When Andy comes home in two weeks, he will be able to feel him too!
A couple weeks ago, I could suck in my gut to not look pregnant. Last week I noticed I couldn't do that anymore. My belly button continues to gradually pop out. Soon it will be totally popped out. It won't be too long before my movement is limited. So far I can get up and bend over with only a little discomfort.
My eating has been pretty good lately. I should probably be more mindful of hydration. (Like I don't pee enough as it is!) My sleeping has gotten weird again but not from hunger like in the first trimester. I fell asleep with the light on last night around 1 am and awoke around 6. I was reading at 7:45 when the house shook a little bit--another little earthquake, I think. The night before I also fell asleep with the light on, awoke early, stayed up for a couple hours, then fell asleep again until about 11:30. My sleep schedule was probably thrown off last weekend, and getting up at 7:45 (after only 3-4 hours of sleep) for the appt Monday did not help. I took a nap before dinner that day but didn't get home till nearly midnight.
It really is such a blessing not to have to work. I can sleep and eat and run errands whenever I want or need. And I'm gonna enjoy it while it lasts because Baby is going to change that... :)
