"... and I'd appreciate it if the state of Massachusetts would stay clear of my sex life. Hmph."
I agree with this statement from a friend's journal.
I do, honest.
But all this quite does is point out the hypocrisy of some people.
Not too long ago this friend wrote a long ranting post about how the marriage amendment should be put on the ballot. Read that over again, make sure you got that right. She was upset that the possibility to ban gay marriage was not going to be put to public vote. The government is there to protect its citizens. Even if its protection from themselves. I realize that this is a controversial issue, and yes, many people care very deeply about it. But its also one that would TAKE AWAY RIGHTS from others. The government is there to protect that from happening, which is what it was doing.
Also, she believes that there is no way that the amendment would pass. Maybe I'm a bit naive. I thought that MA was a highly catholic state. We can't sell wine in grocery stores because of a public vote. You think the public that did that will allow gay marriage? Please.
Now she's upset that a fetish club employee was charged with battery because they drew blood on one of their customers. Yes, it was consensual. Yes, I think the police over-stepped their boundaries. Yes, I think that the charges should be dropped.
You want the state to keep out of your sex life because you're a masochist, but you don't seem to care if it is made illegal for me to get married?
I'm sorry I can't quite write a full, well thought out essay about this for you right now, but I'm beyond livid.
Well, the amendment is going to be on the ballot now.
I hope you're happy.
