I haven't updated this for a very long time indeed. So here's an update about running.
I partially ruptured my achilles tendon about two years ago. Getting back to running has been an interesting process (although a side effect has been spending a lot more time bouldering, which is starting to turn into something I enjoy quite a lot).
This is mainly a note to myself, because I noticed that yesterday I ran 5 miles at a pace that I haven't managed since mid-2009, and haven't exceeded since 2004.
So - recently, I've done
5 miles, 35:12s, 66.6%
5km, 21:36s, 65.7%
12.75 miles, 1:40:16s, 62.3%
A while ago, I'd come to the conclusion that I might approach 21m for a 5k and 35m for a 5mile, but that I'd be unlikely to get much beyond that. Now I'm wondering vaguely about <20m for the 5k (which would also push me over 70% age-grading, and would predict a flat marathon time of 3h10).
The trick is going to be avoiding any more nasty injuries ...
