How do you get someone to change their mind about something they already are set on. Well I tell you what it is hard but you don't attack them. If you attack what they believe in and tell them that they are wrong then they will rebel and not listen to a darn word you have to say. Instead disuss the main point of your argument and don't repeat yourself cause you may bore them. Then ask them if they have any questions and then go over what they asked and touch those points extremly close. Your tone of voice and your hand gestures can really help or hurt you in discussing your main points of your argument. Be fair with them and listen to their position and tell them to point out their main point and see what ones are similar between the both of your positions, in doing that you can weed out all the bad and then really see which one is better then you may even change your mind and listen to them.
If your position on your argument deals with a lot of intellectual understanding then it may be hard for you to persuade the other person, with your argument you have to bring it down to their level, or vise versa, they need to bring it down to your level, or up to the next level. It takes extreme amounts of time and patience to sometimes work others in to changing their ideas especially the ones who have believed in the same thing for their whole life.
