Rivers

I need to get back to reading, so this will be quick, but I was just thinking. I am currently living next to the Mississippi, and see it pretty much four days of the week if not more. I was thinking about the experience of living by a large river like the Mississippi as compared to living:

a. by the Merri Creek (Melbourne)
b. by the Ocean (again in Melbourne/New Jersey)
c. The Hudson and whatever other waterways my limited geography prevents me from naming (New York and Brooklyn)
d. by Lake Michigan (Milwaukee)

basically, mostly comparing the ocean and the Mississippi, there is a similarity to the awe one feels in the presence of each but also worlds of difference. I wonder if there is a particular psyche that develops in the river towns as compared to beach/bay towns. I also wonder then, upon further reflection and remembering my walks with my Father as a kid to Lake Michigan several nights a week and how that might have affected me psychically.

Any thoughts?

When Heather comes we are gonna be walking right next to the mighty Mrs. Ip
