What are spoilers?
When I think of spoiled I think two different things. The first is that of a spoiled brat child who cries and whines and throws themselves on the floor until they get what they want. Something that if my sons did would get them nothing and probably punished.
I also think of spoiled as something rancid or bad.
I remember last year before Deathly Hallows officially came out I went looking for spoilers, and spoilers I found. I found who died and how. I didn't find the epilogue. Was the book spoiled for me? No I was being that spoiled brat who wanted it now. (Don't tell my children lol)
Well now Breaking Dawn is going to be released at midnight Friday, and I plan on being there. But in tradition of being a brat I went looking for spoilers, and spoilers I found. Am I still the brat. Hmmmmm I am now leaning more into my second feeling for spoiled.
See the difference is that when I read the Harry Potter spoilers JKR didn't do anything she said she wouldn't do. She didn't do anything against her own cannon. James wasn 't secretly alive and in hiding. No one really came back from the dead well except for Harry ----but she had real good reasoning behind it. Dumbledore wasn't Harry time traveling. Get the picture? She stayed true to the world she created and she stayed true to her fans. She didn't try and tie a nice big bow around everything. We got our Happily Ever After---but with some pain along the way so that it was worth the struggle.
Now with the Breaking Dawn spoilers out there I feel like Stephenie Meyer cheated. She IMPLIED one thing to her fans heavily and then turned around and did something different. Now if I want real good smut I go to fanfiction.net and read it there, but SM had some pretty intense implications of violence in the BD spoilers I read but when it came to Edward and Bellas relationship there wasn't even any passion unless you count Bella not remembering anything to be implied passion.
I really am wondering now what is going to happen when she goes on tour with the book. I am sure there will be plenty of people who will GUSH over this book and I am sure there will be parts in it where I will get all fangirly. BUT I also know that there are going to be people who are angry and feel cheated. I don't think she expects that. And in a way I really feel sorry for her.
