I just got an email from the juried show in Brooklyn informing me that my work was not accepted for their show.  Apparently there were about 600 pieces (from about 300 artists) entered and they only wanted 85 pieces.  I'm needless to say dissappointed but not really all that surprised.  I have no history of exhibiting work (aside from my senior ( Read more... )

 Sigh. . .

I had to take my artistic ambition down a notch and therefore will NOT be entering into four shows within 2 weeks.  Though it would have been very difficult for me to actually physically produce the amount of new pieces necessary, not to mention preparing updated artist statements, resumes etc, I could have accomplished at least 3 of them ( Read more... )

So, I realize this is probably just a bit ambitious but I've decided to enter 4 different juried shows that have deadlines within the next two weeks. It wouldn't be a big deal if a I had a lot of recent work but most of these require that all work be from the past 2 years and I just realized today that most of the work I have is from 2 years ago or ( Read more... )

The Frida Kahlo exhibit in Philly was wonderful.  It was really incredible to see so much of her original work all in one place.

Incidentally, since then, I got an email from a cousin who, after perusing my art blog, said my work reminded her of Frida Kahlo's work.
