WOW!!!! where do I begin? This week I had to suffer through the mental anguish of another birthday - this one being the one I have dreaded the most, No. 50. FIFTY. 1/2 century. I am now officially able to retire from work. Join the AARP. I am OLD. (I hope you get the picture.) Well, anyway, I wasn't looking forward to this milestone at all. Paul

bfebear have been very supportive and keep telling me that it's no big deal. Well, I didn't fall for it at all! So, on Thursday, I went in to work dreading having to deal with some "festivities." Fortunately, most of them there forgot about it. My next-door neighbour, Toni, always is good about remembering birthdays and had me a big cake that we shared with the few good folks there and the rest of the losers that I am saddled with. I was pretty busy and didn't have a lot of time to think about the day. Meetings in the morning and meetings in the afternoon. Paul had been after me to pick a place for dinner and after replying "McDonalds" way too many times, I told him let's just get some Chinese take out and eat in at his apartment. I was hoping Ed was going to join us for dinner-and-a-movie, but he had errands to run. So we had a GREAT relaxing dinner and watched "Pacific Heights." Since it was still 150 degrees in the shade at dusk, we decided to go to the pool and splash in the cool water there, leaving a note for Ed to join us if he returned. We had a nice soak and then headed back to the apartment just as Ed was getting in with some shopping. By this time it was getting pretty late and I headed home to take care of the animals there and get some sleep. I survived!
