Köpenick is a borough in the south-east of Berlin.  It achieved fame in 1906 when a shoemaker called Wilhelm Voight masqueraded as a military commander and took over the town hall. The Kaiser pardoned him and he's since become a German folk hero. A statue of Voight now stands outside the Rathaus.
