Dr John Clarke has become the latest unlikely character to go viral. The Long Island doc's H1N1 rap is one of the finalists in a competition to find the best swine flu public health advert.

Swine flu has disappeared from the front pages of late, so perhaps Dr John's rap will give us all a salutary sanitary reminder.

It seems The Economist is encouraging its readers to have near-death experiences. The magazine's new cinema advert features thrill-seeker Florent Blondeau negotiating his way through a city on a series of heart-stoppingly high wires. It's all too much for someone like me who gets a nosebleed standing on a doorstep.
