so i'm coming home from work tonigh,t my movie project on my mind like it so often is, and i stop to grab some chips at the gas station, when the song "all the things she said" comes on. yea, the one from tatu. yea, i know... cheesy and probably only being lesbians for publicity or whatever, blah blah blah. i dont give a shit. have you every actually LISTEND to that song? god DAMN.
i mena that beat... its so definite and determined. the music so defiant. their voices so emotional, so frustrate,d and yet so determined. its just awesome, and i use that term the way its menat to be used, not just like its come to be. i mena literally Awe inspiring.
it just got me thinking. music is SO important. not just to a film, but to everything. so of course this got me thinking stuff like "what would it take to have a sence matched to a peice of music?" and such. well, i figured out the answer. theres several ways to handle music in film and games.
as an after thought, added in at the end. this leads to poor quality music, and deminishes the overall feel of the product.
taken already created music, various songs from various artists, and matching the film to them. this can work well, and often does. but also means you have to make sure your action happens at the right tempo and such. can be difficult making your work match someone elses work....
unless that work was created with the music alreayd in mind. thus, the ideal, as i see it is to write a script, then hand that to a compsoer and get feed bakc on where they feel things would be best assisted by music, and what kind of music would fit the over all peice. basicly colaborate on the soundtrack from the get go. this of course requires knowing a composer and having a solid and complete script...
well... i have one of those covered. hi marc.
now, if only i can write this script... *looks at story outline* ...shit.
EDIT: oh... and one more thing... i have known our friend seb was gonna be preforming in CA, however i didnt know that it was a major music festival over a couple of days. right... now i think i will be attending. so, uh... who all was going?
