I've made up the dress in the intended fabrics: maroon flowers on a beige background for the main part of the dress and old rose shiny for the contrasting front panel. Then I found that the neckline of the bodice front panel was entirely too low even though it was ok when I was testing the gown on my dummy. So I made a new panel; this was no problem since I have plenty more of the old rose fabric. Both fabrics are curtain panels I bought at the Second Hand at the church next door, btw.
I have not even attempted the underarm gussets and am leaving them till almost last. Or at least until I cannot put them off any longer.
