Lenae had her 6 month checkup today (although she was 6 months on Saturday the 13th).
Weight: 14 lbs, 8 oz (up from 13lbs 6oz at 4 months) - 40th percentile
Height: 27 inches (up from 25 3/4 inches at 4 months) - 90th percentile
Head circumference: I didn't get the # but it's on the same track it has been (aka normal).
Vax Notes: Two shots (DTaP and Hib) - Last DTaP til 15-18 months, one more Hib til 15 months (since they don't use either vax version that doesn't require the). We discussed the next round of shots with the doctor (who happens to be on our state board of whatever that sets up school requirements for immunizations). The only one he's really concerned with is the Prevnar (pneumoccccal) vax, which he says varies by age. If she'd started at 2 months, she'd need 4 shots. After 6 months, they get 3 shots. After a year, they get one shot. I think we'll wait. The less she gets jabbed, the better. It's not currently a school-required vax but will be starting next school year (where kids also need 2 chickenpox jabs). Next round (9 months) - third Hib and first polio or HepB.
Development Notes: We had a concern that she is tracking heavily to the right with her head, especially after sitting up for any period of time. Doc tested her range of movement in her neck and said that it's just a preference issue that she feels comfortable tilting her head to the right and not a physical one. He also said that 6-7 months is the norm for sitting up (Lenae's still not interested in that feat) and that there's no cause for concern until 9 months.
We reviewed that she'd started solids and was doing well (reflux free) without the formula supplement. He said that once she's 9-12 months she can start having 4oz of cow's milk in addition to solids/breastmilk to help round out her diet/calorie needs (but to only let her have cow's milk from a cup). He attributed her weight going from 50th to 40th percentile to her being more active and feels she's still well within the correct range.
Non-doc update/milestones:
We have a First Word! Buh-Buh. Unfortunately for her estatic brothers, she's not yet attached the word to any one person, so we're all Buh-Buh.
Lenae fussed and fussed at supper last night, wanting MY food, not her babyfood (carrots & peas) so I let her have bites of my baked sweet potato. She ate all of them greedily, then proceded to eat her babyfood - but only if it was on MY spoon, not her little blue one. Silly girl. She's still got an aversion to her sippy cup, but wants to drink out of my cup instead.
I love that she's so loving of Mama, but man, from about an hour before I get home, she's a little beast to Daddy/brothers until she gets her Mama. Bear attributes it to the breastfeeding, but I think she's just in a Mama stage along with her strong aversion to strangers (defined as anyone not Daddy, Mama, or brothers). She's not happy at all in the evenings unless I'm either holding her or right nearby where she can keep an eye on me.
