The holidays went well. We ended up staying extra time at my sister's in Louisiana, even making a trip to Shreveport one day. The relatives were nuts, as usual, but everyone was reasonably well behaved. I only had to have one head-to-head with my uncle about the N word around my boys, and while he argued, he did quit using it every other sentence. Mom wasn't on her meds, but she was behaving, which is unusual but I'll take what I can get when I have to be around her.
Papaw is doing very well. He has put on a decent amount of weight and was up and around chasing grandkids/great-grandkids at Xmas. They'd delayed his chemo until after the holidays, which probably helped his good spirits. He still has to watch the leg that has/had the bone cancer because they've done lung surgeries, but haven't chanced putting a rod in that leg yet.
The boys enjoyed their Xmas. Lots of new toys and books, and their favorite - giftcards. I swear, those two like to shop like grown women do.
Headed back to work to tackle the problem the boss began by cancelling Earthlink to go with AT&T for DSL service. Should have been a simple issue, but it has turned into the most massive nightmare I've ever had to deal with. Earthlink canceled in December, and AT&T was supposed to go active Jan. 3rd. They did... but they messed up my order and made it a self install with existing equipment instead of a tech install with AT&T equipment. My equipment wouldn't coordinate with their system, and after a LOT of arguing with various AT&T idiots, I went to Best Buy and BOUGHT the darn equipment they refused to send me. Then Earthlink realized they'd messed up cancellation paperwork and sent through a second cancellation of service. Apparently no one at AT&T can READ, so they processed it through and cancelled the AT&T service. I got a second service order, got it on Friday morning, and then some AT&T idiot processed the Earthlink cancellation AGAIN, cancelling the DSL for the third time.
They claim "FCC regulations". Morons. We now have to wait another 4 business days possibly to have internet access at work. *sighs* Other employees have been working from home, but I can't, so I can't do half my job until they get this fixed. If we'd already had cable lines in the building and hadn't bought new DSL equipment, I'd be calling Comcast, I swear.
After spending 4-5 hours a day on the phone (on hold or yelling at AT&T idiots), I haven't wanted to be online much. Catch up with everyone later. ;-)
