Jodhpur is supposed to be blue and it is- especially from the top of this MASSIVE fort that overlooks the town from this kind of plateau. the mehranah (sp? i'll look it up later) fort is made of red sandstone that kind of rises out of the cliff face and looms over he entire city. mpost of which is painted blue i can' rememeber why- something to do with the brahmins and then later with insect repellant. i took photos, alhough it's difficult to see the entire view in one photo.
jaisalmer -where i got henna done by a woman working for the local woman's co-op who told me that most females get married at 11, and if you haven't married or produced children by 14 you're either an old maid and no one will marry you or your motherin-law kills you. And i ttoally belie that too. then you realise because of the incrdibly poor standard of living- althogh slightly better here in jaipur- most of the kids you see around that look around six are probably eight or ten, and you have to wonder if the girls are fed enogh to be able to have children at eleven.
anyway, that city was yellow, and we stayed inside this huge fort which was really quite cool. my brother was sick so he saw none of which which was a shame, but you get that when you're a delicate flower.
argh i have to go we're off on a train (my gods i will NEVER complain about cityrail again) to a national park with tigers and massages and i will endeavour to find a net caf when i have more than five minutes to spare.
also, any fort st stlin' ppl reading this- can you remember my student number? it's probably on my eljay somewhere but i've forgotten my uac pin and to get it re-sent i need the number which apparently i can't remember, although it WAS tattooed on my brain.
love you lots, big congrats to everyone with results, esp van with 100!!!!!
