Brother, can you spare a job?
I spoke a bit too soon when I claimed to have passed through the Voluntary Separation Package phase of our layoffs unscathed; a memo showed up yesterday in our inboxes claiming that instead of Monday, today would be the real deal; grace n good luck, y'all. Well, that axe too slipped by overhead; the packages went out like rain elsewhere in the company, but not near my department. And tho they offered sweeteners above the usual layoff package (like 7 additional pay checks), it really didn't seem as much as I'd hoped for anyways. Done is done in any case, and my job's apparently safe enough, for a few more months at least.
