God it's wonderful. I am absolutely in awe - maintaining interest in the character over that length of story, without becoming self-parody, devaluing the characters or introducing crap substories. *And then* recreating *effective* fresh interest for a second season?

Gave in and bought Life on Mars yesterday, since I chose to watch/tape Big Love instead missed it. No substitute but it'll just have to do...
